The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, attended this Saturday the closing of the XXI Torneo Bola Canaria Madera 'Abuelos Conejeros' this year held in Mancha Blanca (Tinajo) and conveyed congratulations to the 680 participants from all the municipalities of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

Especially to the winners: In the male category: Los Chicos de Nazaret (Teguise) and in the female category: La Huerta Vieja (Yaiza)

Corujo stated that tournaments like this are useful to create bonds and avoid unwanted loneliness in the elderly, and encouraged them to continue participating in this activity that promotes values such as relationship, friendship, tolerance, respect or teamwork. "The Cabildo of Lanzarote will always support this type of tournament that creates bonds and avoids unwanted loneliness in the elderly."

In addition, the president of the Cabildo highlighted the importance of the Canarian Ball in promoting equality and inclusion, since young and old people, as well as women and men, can participate in the teams. In this sense, she stated that this sport is a fun and easy game to understand and play, which encourages the meeting between generations.

For his part, the Minister of Sports, Alfredo Mendoza, stressed the importance "of spreading and preserving the Canarian traditions through this type of tournaments, but stressed that the most important thing is to promote values and positive relationships between people."

The XXI Torneo Bola Canaria Madera 'Abuelos Conejeros' has been a success in participation and organization in the 18 days held. It should be remembered that all the participating players are over 60 years of age.
