The Lanzarote paratriathlete Lionel Morales has managed to be proclaimed champion again of Spain of Paralympic Triathlon in his PTS2 category in the event that took place this Saturday in Mérida (Extremadura).
Morales seems to have found a good level of fitness and is achieving good results in recent weeks, having won a few weeks ago in the Paralympic Triathlon World Championship event that took place in Hungary.
Lionel Morales achieved a comfortable victory in Extremadura (1:20:14), followed on the podium by the Basques A. Oleaga Pájaro (1:33:07) and O. Garro Antxia occupying the third step of the podium (1:35:50).
After the event in Mérida, Lionel Morales explained that after finishing the Spanish Championship event, "one more for the collection. I'm not sure if I have twenty-one Spanish championships between duathlon and triathlon, Spanish champion, etc. Swimming was a bit tough for me today. I had many strong rivals and so I took it, more or less, calmly. On the bike, I did push. And in the run, I had discomfort again running, so I decided to take it easy. But, even so, first place and controlling the race at all times. Now on the 5th I have a World Cup in Portugal and let's see how it goes," concludes Lionel Morales.
