This Monday, the fourteenth edition of the César Manrique Trophy, the emblematic cruise regatta of Lanzarote, was presented at the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife. This edition will also feature the J80 class and will be held between August 14 and 16 of this year in the waters of Arrecife, in Lanzarote.
This regatta, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife and Calero Marinas, is an event of the Official Calendar of the Real Federación Española de Vela and the Real Federación Canaria de Vela, forming part of the Canary Islands Cruise Circuit.
Returning the view to the sea is one of the great objectives that the organization has set for the César Manrique Trophy of 2025. To value the nautical tradition of Arrecife and the excellence of its regatta field. To this end, not only will the regatta field be placed very close to the coast so that it can be followed by those in Arrecife, but also a virtual tracking system will be put in place to facilitate the
following of the tests, in addition to a great social program open to the public so that the whole city can be part of the event.
The presentation was attended by Doña Sonia Fajardo Villalobos, representing the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, who expressed her great satisfaction in continuing to co-organize this event with Calero Marinas. On
behalf of Calero Marinas, the other organizing party, D. José Calero, president of this entity, wanted to thank the institutions for the support always received for this event and maintains his commitment and work so that this regatta will once again be the national reference regatta that it was at the time.
On behalf of the institutions, Eli Merino, Arrecife's Councillor for Tourism, declared the town hall's firm commitment to nautical events in the island's capital. Héctor Fernández, as CEO of the Sociedad de Promoción Exterior de Lanzarote, reiterates his commitment to this type of event that qualifies the destination and aligns with the Blue Tourism promotion strategy that is being worked on from his area.
From the Department of Sports of the Cabildo Lanzarote, its councillor Juan Monzón, referred to the César Manrique Trophy as "something more than a sporting event, this regatta is a conejero sporting heritage" and that in that line, his department will continue to firmly support this event.
Closing the order of intervention, the managing director of Tourism of the Canary Islands, José Juan Lorenzo, stressed the importance of event sponsorships "that in its five years of validity have benefited more than 500 Canarian SMEs, which has made this initiative an extraordinary example of public-private collaboration, mobilizing a joint investment of more than 215 million euros".
Lorenzo assured that through these sponsorships "not only is it possible to improve the positioning of the destination, but also to increase the quality of the experience for the tourists who choose us and benefit the citizens of the Canary Islands, who enjoy a rich and varied agenda of cultural and sporting events that are already a reference for the citizens of the islands, as is the case with the César Manrique RCNA-Calero Marinas Trophy, which is now celebrating its fourteenth edition".
The registration for the César Manrique Trophy, as well as the regatta instructions are now available on the web. The César Manrique RCNA - Calero Marinas Trophy has the invaluable support of Islas Canarias - Promotur, Turismo Lanzarote, Deportes del Cabildo de Lanzarote, Ayuntamiento de Arrecife, Cicar and Naviera Armas.
