Dieter Comhair and Lucy Charles have been proclaimed winners of the Club La Santa Volcano Triathlon 2026 on a day that has once again placed Lanzarote at the epicenter of national triathlon. The Belgian and the British athlete achieved victory with times of 1:52:53 and 2:04:18, respectively. More than 350 triathletes from 25 nationalities participated in the event, reaffirming the international character of this competition born in 1984.
The Club La Santa Volcano Triathlon, included in the FETRI scoring events calendar, challenges its participants with the distances of an Olympic triathlon: 1.5 kilometers of swimming, 40 by bicycle, and 10 on foot. These distances allow both elite triathletes and less experienced ones to enjoy a unique challenge and be part of one of the most special events on the national calendar.

At 8 in the morning, the competition kicked off from the saltwater lagoon of Club La Santa. In the swimming segment, equality was the dominant note, with Belgian Dieter Comhair and Briton Lucy Charles emerging in first position from the water in each category.
During the 40 kilometers of cycling through Famara and Teguise, the peloton began to separate. On the men's side, Dieter Comhair remained at the head of the race, followed very closely by Laurens Verluyten and Daniel Baekkegard. Meanwhile, Lucy Charles was able to distance her main rival, Anne Haug, leaving more than 5 minutes between them.
As a closing to this exciting event, the 10 kilometers of running through Tinajo decided the final podium. Dieter Comhair crossed the finish line in first place, followed by Daniel Baekkegard and Laurens Verluyten, who completed the men's podium. In women, after the winner Lucy Charles, second and third place went to Anne Haug, who arrived just one minute later, and Lydia Dant.
The eve of the Club La Santa Volcano Triathlon was marked by more than 40 children and young people who participated in the Volcano Kids, enjoying an adapted event that promotes the values of sport. After the closing of this 42nd edition, the focus is now on the Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote, the oldest event in Europe of said circuit, which will be held on May 23.
One more year, the support and collaboration of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Turismo de Lanzarote, Lanzarote Sports Destination, the Teguise City Council and that of Tinajo, as well as the Government of the Canary Islands, have determined the success in the organization. The backing of FETRI and FECANTRI also provides a fundamental boost for the development of the race.
The date of the 43rd edition of the Club La Santa Volcano Triathlon will be announced soon.
