The Lanzarote Summer Challenge 2026 has awarded its best athletes. The pair formed by Elena Carratalá and Fabián Beneito is the winner of the XII edition, marked by the highest sporting and competitive level in its history and massive public following.
The audience's excitement was palpable even before the first countdown, supporting the competitors who began the day with maximum intensity to successfully complete the tough exercises and earn a place in the grand final.
El Reducto beach became the perfect stage to test their strength: 100 sit-ups without a break, demonstrating steel muscles, followed by a 300-meter run and another 60 meters of sled drag with up to 60 kilos. And all of this on the sand.
With no time to catch their breath, another 300-meter run to continue with 40 burpees combined with single-arm dumbbell rows with 25 kilos. For the end, and with their last strength, a final run led to a spectacular 150-meter swim in crystal-clear water in which they left their last drops of sweat.
The last challenge to qualify for the final was held at the Marina Lanzarote Puerto Deportivo facilities. Undoubtedly the most intense. Six minutes at maximum heart rate to carry a sack of up to 70 kilos on the shoulder and on a route that led to the next test: 10 vertical push-ups, doing handstands.
Only the best eight pairs in each category had a place in the final, for which the organization had prepared a spectacular challenge. The finalists had to climb a four-and-a-half-meter rope up to 12 times and then jump 150 times with another heavy rope. With no time for rest, they continued with 80 repetitions of throwing a 12-kilo ball with deep squats and then hang from the bar and raise their feet to touch it 60 times. But that was not all. The final touch, 30 repetitions with up to 80 kilos loaded on a bar that they lifted from the ground above their heads.
The winners of the elite RX category were Elena Carratalá and Fabián Beneito, followed by Laura Plaza and Arnau Sabaté in second place and Julia Blazejowska and Alejandro De la Guardia in third place.
In Master, the triumph went to the pair formed by Andrea Beautell and Jeremías Lasso. The winners of the Intermediate category were Carla Morales and David Leyton. In the Scaled category, the victory went to Lala Alcocer and Sandro Acosta.
Next, the trophy presentation took place with the presence of the municipal corporation of Arrecife, headed by its mayor, Yonathan de León, and his councilor for Tourism and Sports, Elisabeth Merino, as well as María Martín, head of Lanzarote Sports Destination, alongside the director of the Lanzarote Summer Challenge 2026, Carmen Vicente.
Carmen Vicente highlighted the level of the athletes in all categories, which this year are exclusively mixed, and which has included internationally recognized participants: “Not only the male athletes, but also the female athletes, who on many occasions have surpassed the male athletes in some of the events.” Furthermore, she wanted to thank the public for this edition, the most demanding in terms of events, some of them new: “It is being a great spectacle and it is beautiful to see how they join forces and the boys and girls work to overcome the challenges. And I also want to say that I am proud of what we have built and of the human team we have, which is incredible.”
