José Juan Aranda Gallego, elite master swimmer and resident of Lanzarote, has achieved a historic performance at the European Masters Championships Short Course, held in Lublin (Poland), by becoming European Champion in the 50-meter backstroke and also winning the bronze medal in the 100-meter backstroke, in the master +50 category.

With these results, Aranda not only consolidates his international sporting career but also places Lanzarote back on the podiums of European swimming, becoming a benchmark for master sports at the continental level.

The championship, which brought together the best master swimmers from all over Europe,  stood out for its high competitive level. In this context, the victory in the 50m backstroke confirms the excellent form and technical preparation of the athlete residing in Lanzarote, while the bronze in the 100m backstroke reinforces his consistency and reliability in the most demanding events.

José Juan Aranda balances his athletic career with his work as a coach and promoter of conscious swimming and technical training through the Be Water Training project, from where he promotes a vision of sport based on excellence, consistency, and respect for the body at all stages of life.

His impact on the championship was not limited to his own sporting results. As a coach, Aranda also accompanied several swimmers who achieved outstanding performances at this European event. Among them, Cinzia Lais, from CN Vulcania, who won three medals in the championship in her technical preparation.

These new achievements are a source of pride for Lanzarote and for Canary Islands sport, demonstrating that the island continues to project talent, discipline, and sporting values beyond its borders, both through individual performance and through the training and support of other athletes.
