The Lanzarote referee Alejandro Hernández Hernández has achieved promotion to the First Division. Hernández started refereeing matches at just 11 years old and now at 29 he has reached the gold category of football.
In May 2000, Hernández began refereeing matches in the Third Division and, four years later, achieved promotion to Second Division B.
In 2007, the Lanzarote referee reached the Second Division, where he has refereed a total of 100 matches. The last of these was the promotion match played last week between Valladolid and Alcorcón. Hernández has also directed three Copa del Rey matches.
The Lanzarote native thus becomes the first referee from Las Palmas to be promoted to the First Division in the last nine years.
Also promoted to the First Division as an assistant referee is Manuel Aboy Rivas from Lanzarote, who has accompanied Hernández throughout this season and the previous one.
