The Lanzarote Raqueta Club traveled last weekend to San Juan de la Rambla (Tenerife) to participate in the Canary Islands U-11, U-13, and U-15 Championship.
The expedition was composed of 10 players and 1 coach: Airam Steux, Mariona Morales, Esmeralda Castillo, Manuel Cabrera, Vera Gopar, Aduén Betancort, Jorge Betancort, Marcos Vergés, Gara Sánchez, Samyra Méndez, and Inma Duarte.
In the under-11 category, mixed doubles, the pair Manuel Cabrera and Vera García shone once again this year, being crowned Canary Islands champions. In the girls' singles, Vera García revalidated her title and was once again crowned Canary Islands champion. And in the boys' singles, Manuel Cabrera reached the final, where he lost to Álvaro Guadalupe (Lanzarote), achieving a meritorious second placeIn the under-13 category, in the mixed doubles modality, the new pair formed by Gara Sánchez and Airam Steux did a great job and obtained a bronze, after losing in a very tight third set against the Lanzarote players Jacob López and Nerea PadrónIn the under-15 category, in the mixed doubles modality, Aduén Betancort and Chanel Conti climbed onto the podium, achieving a hard-fought third place. And in men's singles, Jorge Betancort reached the final, where he was defeated by the Fuerteventura player Enzo Mouriño, securing a valuable runner-up position
The Lanzarote Raqueta Club left very good impressions at this Canary Islands Championship, returning to the island of Lanzarote with 3 golds, 2 silvers, and 4 bronzes, totaling 9 medals and nearly a clean sweep.
The club wishes to send its utmost support and best wishes for a speedy recovery to player Ana Samyra Méndez, who was unable to participate due to an injury, although she accompanied the team to cheer on and support her teammates.
