The Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen women's Division de Honor Oro team achieved a new victory this Saturday at the Celestino Hernández Municipal Pavilion on the island of Tenerife against Club Balonmano Perdoma (15-42) in a match corresponding to the fourth matchday of the Canary Islands Cup, the last of the tournament for the Tiñosero club.

With this victory, the Tiñoseras are proclaimed cup champions after finishing undefeated, four wins in four games, and whatever happens on the last matchday in which the aurinegras will not play any match. For its part, Perdoma is placed fourth in the standings with two points after one victory and two defeats in three matches so far.

The match started with a visitor advantage and nothing was going to change in the development of the match. Despite not playing a great match, the Tiñoseras reached halftime with a ten-goal advantage (10-20). In the second half, there were few novelties. The difference on the scoreboard widened as the minutes passed. Jesús Casanova's team, without excessive fanfare, left the Tenerife team with fifteen goals at the end of the match (15-42).

Yuli Quevedo became the top scorer of the match and the Tiños team with ten goals. Mónica Cabrera also stood out in attack, adding eight goals to the Tiñosera saddlebag. In the Tenerife team, Nayara Armas scored nine goals, with little support in the offensive facet in her team because, in the end, only five players managed to score and with low numbers.

The aurinegro coach, Jesús Casanova, explained after the match in Tenerife that “we are picking up a little more rhythm each time, we continue with the problems at the defensive level, we are not finishing adjusting or achieving the necessary hardness in the center of our defense, but it is true that, once we recover and are able to defend a little, the transition to the counterattack is getting better and better. The positional attack, taking into account that we had Brenda out plus Dely who barely played ten minutes because she had a back discomfort, went quite well too. We were training it and it seems that, little by little, we are increasing the dynamics, but still quite worried about the defensive issue. Now we have two weeks for the beginning of the season. This week we will slow down a bit because Monday is a holiday and we will give it free. But yes, right now what worries us is to recover the three or four players that we have touched and continue working hard because there is no other option, we are not yet at the level we want, but I do believe that, once we face matches of the pure and hard competition season, we are going to go up a little more that I think is what we need right now to be able to compete in conditions”, concluded Toño Cedrés.
