The Plenary Hall of the Cabildo of Lanzarote hosted this Monday the presentation of the XXXIII edition of the Ironman Lanzarote, one of the iconic events of the island's calendar that will be held next Saturday, May 17.
The presentation was attended by the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort; the Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón; and the director of the race, Fabio Cabrera, as well as representatives of municipalities of the island.
The island's president, Oswaldo Betancort, thanked Club La Santa and the Island Sports Service for their work, and confirmed that according to the latest surveys conducted among the participants of IRONMAN Lanzarote, their level of satisfaction has grown significantly, now standing one point above the international average of the most outstanding triathlon events in the world. He also referred to the effort made this year to continue improving the experience of the triathletes; this time, in the section of Avenida de Las Playas, in Puerto del Carmen. "IRONMAN Lanzarote 2025 will once again demonstrate our organizational capacity, our hospitality, and our unique connection between landscape, health, and ethical tourism," concluded the island's president.
For his part, the Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, highlighted the importance of this event for the island's sports calendar. "Without a doubt, when we talk about Ironman, we know that it is one of the most important events, which brings together the largest number of international athletes and, above all, is most exciting and interesting to the resident," said Monzón, who also stressed the importance of the volunteers who make this event possible, as well as the organizers and the state security forces.
The director of the race, Fabio Cabrera, explained the technical and participation data for this new edition of Ironman Lanzarote. "More than 1,150 registered participants will cover the almost 4 kilometers of swimming in Puerto del Carmen, the 180 kilometers by bicycle around the island, and the 42.2 kilometers along the avenue that connects Puerto del Carmen and Arrecife," detailed Cabrera, who highlighted that this year "the public will be able to enjoy a greater experience in the link that takes place in Playa Grande, in Puerto del Carmen."
In addition, as usual, the day before will be held the IronKids, the event for young lovers of swimming and running. In addition, this year has the novelty that it is held in the area of the Ironman circuit, in Playa Grande, so young people can enjoy even more the feeling of the Ironman.
In this way, nearly 60 different nationalities and the most prepared triathletes in the world will meet on May 17 in Lanzarote to get the long-awaited finisher medal of Ironman Lanzarote, one of the toughest in the world.
