Lanzarote hosts the tenth edition of the César Manrique Optimist Trophy

With one day left before registration closes, 110 sailors have confirmed their participation in the sporting event.

The bay of Arrecife, in Lanzarote, is preparing to host this coming weekend the tenth edition of the César Manrique 2025 Optimist Trophy, the first of the three scoring events for the Canary Islands Championship.

With the organization of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife by delegation of the Real Federación Española de Vela, Real Federación Canaria de Vela and the Asociación Española de la Clase Internacional Optimist (AECIO), it will have the participation of more than 110 sailors from the Canary Islands and highlighting the presence of a team from the Real Club Náutico de San Sebastián.

The presentation of the X César Manrique 2025 Optimist Trophy was held this Thursday in the halls of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife. An event that was attended by the
president of the club, Julio Romero, who was accompanied by Israel González, representing Caixabank, one of the sponsors of the event that takes place this weekend in the island's capital.

Julio Romero highlighted what a test of these characteristics means for the city of Arrecife, and stressed that "it is an event of great importance in the sporting part and
also in the revitalization of the city from an economic point of view, with the arrival of more than 200 people including sailors, coaches, support staff and family members."

The president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife also wanted to thank the collaboration of all the public institutions and private companies that make the celebration of the X César Manrique Optimist Trophy possible. He made a special mention to Naviera Armas - Trasmediterránea, a company that collaborates in all the logistics of the event, and its presence is important for the transfer of boats between the islands to facilitate the participation of all the sailors.

With one day left before registration closes, 110 sailors have confirmed their participation in the X César Manrique Optimist Trophy. There will be 24 pneumatic boats on the race course, occupied by coaches, the race committee and support staff, in addition to the presence of two boats, one of them provided by the Federación Insular de Barquillos de Vela Latina de Lanzarote.

The registered sailors represent eight nautical clubs in the Canary Islands, highlighting the presence of five sailors from the Real Club Náutico de San Sebastián, repeating the experience with respect to the past edition. An event in which the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria, Real Club Náutico de Tenerife, Club de Regatas 4 Vientos, Club Marítimo Varadero, Club Deportivo Náutico Fuerteventura and Club del Mar Radazul will also be represented.

Friday is reserved for participant registration and equipment control, and the coaches' meeting. A total of 6 regattas have been scheduled, the
first of which is scheduled to start at 11:00 am on Saturday, and the César Manrique Trophy will be valid with the dispute of at least two races. Wind conditions of 7 to 10 knots of intensity are expected.

The César Manrique 2025 Optimist Trophy is sponsored by CaixaBank and Pata & Reguera, with the collaboration of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Servicio Insular de Deportes, European Sport Destination, Ayuntamiento de Arrecife, Deportes Arrecife, Turismo Arrecife, and the support of Naviera Armas - Trasmediteránea, Calero Marinas, Gran Hotel Arrecife, Renault - Juan Toledo S.L., Frutas JC Viñas and Tirma.
