Lanzarote will host a new edition of the A1 Padel Open from April 21st to 27th, one of the most important tournaments on the international A1 Padel circuit, which will bring together more than 200 professional players of different nationalities in the Plaza de Naos, in Marina Lanzarote.

This official event, which comes to the island for the second consecutive year, is part of a global calendar that crosses four continents with venues in cities such as New York, Monte Carlo, Buenos Aires, Cape Town, and Mexico City. Its celebration on the island reinforces Lanzarote's position as a reference destination for high-level sports and consolidates the institutional commitment to linking tourism, economy, and physical activity in a sustainable development model.

The official presentation of the tournament took place this morning at the Marina Innova Hub, in Arrecife, and was attended by Juan Monzón, Minister of Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Héctor Fernández, CEO of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, Eli Merino, Councilor for Tourism and Sports of the Arrecife City Council, and the remote intervention on behalf of A1 Padel, by Jesús Díaz.

The event served to advance the main novelties of the event, which will maintain its sporting and competitive essence, while expanding its parallel program with promotional, educational, and social activities.

During the presentation, the value of hosting an international event such as the A1 Padel Open for Lanzarote was discussed, not only for its sporting dimension, but also for the direct impact it generates on the local economy, employment, and the external promotion of the island. A tournament of these characteristics mobilizes hundreds of people —including players, technical teams, journalists, and visitors— who consume services for several days, boost the business fabric, and contribute to projecting Lanzarote as an active, modern destination connected with high-level sports.

Institutional support

In his speech, the Minister of Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Juan Monzón, thanked the media for their presence and stressed the importance of continuing to promote outdoor sporting events that project the image of the island beyond the competitive sphere.

Monzón stressed that the A1 Padel Open represents the second most important international event in the world in its category, so the commitment to this tournament is part of the strategy of the Insular Sports Service, Turismo Lanzarote, the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism, and the rest of administrations and private entities to position Lanzarote as an ideal destination for this type of competition, "given the important impact of this type of event not only in the sports field, but also in the tourist and economic field."

In the same line of institutional support, the Councilor of the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism of Lanzarote, Ángel Vázquez, who could not be present at the press conference, also wanted to convey his support for the event.

He assured that this new edition "is a great opportunity for our island." "We were aware in the last edition, and we are even more so this year, of the importance of an internationally renowned event such as the A1 Padel, and from the Tourist Centers we will continue to support this type of tournament that has a positive impact on our island."

For his part, Héctor Fernández, CEO of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, insisted on the importance of sport as "a strategic pillar in the tourist promotion of Lanzarote, and that A1 Padel is once again focusing on the island is an opportunity that reinforces our commitment to events with real impact."

Fernández pointed out that this institutional support is part of a sustained line of work that is raising the quality of the tourist offer and consolidating Lanzarote as a reference destination also in the sports field.

The institutional support was completed with the intervention of the Councilor for Tourism and Sports of the Arrecife City Council, Eli Merino, who expressed the capital city council's commitment to the continuity of the tournament on the island and valued the results of the previous edition as a success. In this regard, Merino pointed out that in this edition the investment has doubled compared to last year, as a sign of the firm commitment to consolidate the A1 Padel Open as a benchmark within the international sports calendar.

During the presentation, Jesús Díaz was also present as a representative of A1 Padel, who valued and appreciated the trust and institutional commitment that have made it possible to repeat the venue in Lanzarote.

In addition to the official matches, the A1 Padel Lanzarote Open 2025 will include a parallel program with promotional actions in key points of the island, activities aimed at schoolchildren and young athletes, and an interaction space with brands and sponsors.

All this, in a unique enclave such as Marina Lanzarote, which will once again become the scene of a week of sport, spectacle, and coexistence.
