Lanzarote drivers involved in shocking accident at the Tenerife Rally after demolishing an abandoned house

The Lanzarote drivers Yeray Lemes and David Vázquez starred in one of the most dramatic moments of the Canary Islands Rally this Saturday in Tenerife. During the penultimate stage between El Amparo and La Montañeta, their Citroën C3 Rally2 suffered aquaplaning on an urban straight, impacting first against a house and then against another abandoned one, whose roof and walls completely collapsed from the impact.

Despite the spectacular material damage captured in videos that quickly went viral, the representatives of Lanzarote emerged unharmed along with spectators and neighbors. The accident, which occurred under heavy rains that complicated the test, cut short their comeback but demonstrated the danger of racing in urban environments in bad weather. The images of the collapse surprised the spectators of the sporting event.
