A weekend of emotions for the sailing family, with the celebration of the first edition of the Pedro de Armas Sanginés Memorial – Tour of Lanzarote. The regatta organized by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife had a wide participation, with the development of two stages that were marked by the lack of wind. Lanzarote Sailing Paradise in the ORC 2 group and Lola Tres in the ORC 1 group, took the victory.

The first stage, with a route between Puerto Calero and La Graciosa, started on Saturday morning with two staggered starts. The first to start were the boats of the ORC 2 and Open Group, who began the journey with a northwest wind component and an intensity of 8 knots. 45 minutes later the boats of the ORC 1 group started, with the wind rolling to the southwest and increasing the intensity to 14 knots.

The purpose of this starting system was to equalize the boats with lower ratings and those with higher ratings, and that the arrival to the island of La Graciosa was done jointly. The wind dropped as the day progressed, and many of the boats decided to continue by motor to La Graciosa to join the tribute that the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife had prepared.

The sons and grandsons of Pedro de Armas went sailing aboard the Avanti Lanzarote, a boat owned by one of the sons. Also present was the emblematic Caboandrés, a 17-meter schooner, in which some of the sons and grandsons of Pedro de Armas also sailed throughout the weekend.

Lola Tres, in the ORC 1 group, skippered by Rafael and Miguel Lasso, and Lanzarote Sailing Paradise, in the ORC 2 group, skippered by Alejandro Morales, were the only boats that managed to cross the finish line in the time established by the Regatta Committee. The president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Julio Romero, and his Board of Directors entertained all the owners and crew members of the participating boats in La Graciosa.

On Sunday morning, the second stage of the Pedro de Armas Memorial – Tour of Lanzarote between La Graciosa and Puerto Calero was started. The lack of wind was again the protagonist, falling in intensity to 2 or 3 knots. All the skippers did their best to finish the race in the established time and the trophies were awarded in the tent in the Plaza de Puerto Calero on Sunday afternoon.

The prize for the youngest crew went to Lola Tres, a boat that had many sailors from the Optimist, ILCA 4 or Wingfoil classes this weekend, aged between 8 and 14 years. The participation of female sailors was also awarded, with Rosalía Lasso being the youngest sailor on board Lola Tres, and distinctions were given to Guayabo, Lanzarote Sailing Paradise and Avanti Lanzarote. And the ecological prize went to Guayabo, who towed the Gaia boat to La Graciosa after it had an engine failure.

Next, the trophy was awarded to the winner of the ORC 2 group, which went to Alejandro Morales' Lanzarote Sailing Paradise, and Rafael Lasso's Lola Tres was the champion of the ORC 1 group. The president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Julio Romero, wanted to have a special detail for a lifetime to the crew of Caboandrés, with all its representatives going up and receiving the Manuela Bermúdez trophy.
