UD Lanzarote achieved a hard-fought victory against UD Telde on Saturday afternoon, in a match where the Lanzarote team enjoyed countless opportunities to achieve a wider score. Telde limited themselves to defending throughout the match, finding the equalizing goal on the edge of halftime. A double by the Palmeran forward Dani López allows UD Lanzarote to add the second consecutive victory of the season.
UD Lanzarote started the match somewhat rushed. The Rojillos wanted to resolve the match quickly, not being successful in front of the opposing goal. Most of the dangerous actions were thwarted by the UD Telde defense and others went over the end line.
The first dangerous chances were starred by UD Lanzarote. Jorge Pulido was the first to test goalkeeper Víctor, and minutes later a header from Kennedy went wide of the three posts. Telde also tried through Juanqui, with a shot from the edge of the area that went over the crossbar.
UD Lanzarote took the lead in the 25th minute of the first half. Javi Betancort put a ball between the lines for Dani López, with the Palmeran forward winning the game against the defender and beating goalkeeper Víctor, who had been caught in no man's land. A goal that gave peace of mind to UD Lanzarote's game, with Dani López having another chance in the 28th minute and goalkeeper Víctor snatching the ball from the Rojillo forward's feet.
Kennedy and Borja Vera had good chances to increase the lead. Kennedy's cross shot went close to the base of the post, and Borja Vera picked up a rebound inside the area, with the shot going over the crossbar. When UD Lanzarote was most focused on Telde's goal, the Telde goal arrived. Arrazola received a ball on the edge of the area and his hard shot beat goalkeeper Agoney.
In the second half, UD Lanzarote was the team that took the offensive initiative, aware of their potential and the need to add the three points to stay in the top zone of the standings. UD Telde continued with its defensive bet, giving up a lot of ground and being at the mercy of the rival. It seemed that the goal was a matter of time, although it did not arrive until the final stretch of the match.
The first chance of the second half was for Raúl, with a header after a corner kick. Later, it was Borja Vera who tried with a shot that went slightly wide. Minutes later, Miguel Gómez stole a ball on the edge of the area, saw goalkeeper Víctor advanced, and his attempted chip went over the goal.
UD Lanzarote continued to generate dangerous chances, and UD Telde became more and more entrenched in their own field. Ayoze Pérez finished off a corner kick at the far post, meeting the good intervention of goalkeeper Víctor, who prevented the second goal. Miguel Gómez had another chance, receiving a pass from Javi Melián and making a defective finish that did not find the three posts of the goal.
So much goes the pitcher to the fountain that in the end it breaks, and that is what happened in the 86th minute of the match. A shot by Miguel Gómez from the edge of the area could not be cleared by the Telde defense, the ball was left dead at the feet of Dani López, and the Palmeran forward did not forgive to send the ball into the back of the net.
Hard-fought victory for UD Lanzarote against UD Telde, in a match in which the Lanzarote team enjoyed countless opportunities, although it was not until the final minutes when they managed to score the winning goal. Three points that place UD Lanzarote in the top zone of the standings, and Telde suffers the second consecutive defeat that places them in the relegation zone.
