Presentation of the fourth edition of Haría Titán

The fourth edition of Haría Titán will start on November 16, continuing to exceed expectations, closing registrations with 882 runners, which demonstrates the great work that has led this event to be a mandatory event for both sports and nature lovers, as well as for trail professionals.

The El Aljibe hall in Haría hosted the presentation ceremony that took place this Thursday, attended by institutional representatives such as Alfredo Villalba, mayor of the Haría City Council; Juan Monzón, Minister of Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote; Aroa Revelo, Minister of Youth of the Cabildo of Lanzarote; Alejandro Hernández, from the Haría Trail Team Club; and Albi Cedrés, runner of the HTT.

Precisely, the mayor wanted to emphasize that "Haría is a benchmark in the world of trail running, which is why the Haría City Council is fully committed to sports and this discipline without any doubt. Not only because of the sporting event that attracts many runners, but also the economic movement that it entails", so Villalba also wanted to "deeply thank the Haría Trail Team initiative for having created and consolidated this Haría Titán".

Monzón also had words of gratitude to the organization for having made this competition "break records every year, exceeding 800 entries. Obviously, the Cabildo of Lanzarote will lend a hand, both to the City Council and to the organizers, to continue with this success." The Minister of Sports also wanted to emphasize the work of the HTT for "enhancing sports in the municipality with the support of the institutions, from which we will dedicate ourselves to ensure that this event increases its success in each edition".

Congratulations that the Minister extends after it has been officially announced that Haría Titán has been recognized by the FECAMON (Canarian Mountain Federation) so that its fifth edition will be part of the 2025 Canarian Championship. "They have put this race at the forefront of the Canary Islands," said Revelo, who also emphasized the importance of sports among the youngest: "On Friday, November 15, there will be 200 children participating in the children's race and there are some of them who started from there in the first edition, four years ago, and are now in the Haría Titán 14.5K Youth modality, so for us it is a firm commitment that we also share with our colleague Samuel Martín, from the Geopark area, as I am convinced that they will achieve the sustainability and environment award."

For his part, Hernández highlighted the sacrifice of the club members, volunteers, workers, institutions, sponsors and collaborators who have helped in the organization of the competition. "Behind Haría Titán there is work that is not seen and there is also support that is not seen. Practically, this event has become a reality thanks to the institutional support of the Haría City Council and the Cabildo of Lanzarote, without taking away merit from those participants who continue to grow year after year and who make us, from the organization, set new goals."

And it is that from Haría Titán its fourth edition has been focused on demonstrating that sporting events can be held in harmony with environmental conservation. "The goal this year was to work hand in hand with the Cabildo to focus our efforts on the environment, because we believe that sporting events should respect and educate in this area," said Hernández about the possibility that Haría Titán will obtain the “Green CXM Trail FEDME” environmental certification based on the “Guide to good practices for the development of mountain races in protected natural spaces ”is a complicated challenge that currently only has one event in the Canary Islands and for which we have worked to achieve it. Whether we are given the certificate or not, we are proud of the hard work that has already been done."

In the same line, Cedrés wanted to recognize all the work done by the organization: "The event is there because the organization deserves it. Each of them has their job and then they dedicate themselves to taking care of this event, cleaning and conditioning each path. So being in the Canary Islands Championship next year is because they have been working harder than anyone else."

As for the race, Cedrés does not want to make a prediction, although he is sure that it will be a beautiful race due in large part to renowned runners who will increase the level of this fourth edition, such as Jesús Gil or Alexis Martín. "We will try to live up to them and also give a game for the spectators. We will have to fight, there is no other choice," concludes the runner.

Everything is ready for the starting gun of this fourth edition of Haría Titán to be heard on November 16. At 07:00 hours, the 42.5K modality will begin, giving way at 08:00 to the 22.5K Geopark, so that one hour later the 14.5K Youth will begin. Without forgetting that on Friday, November 15, the little ones will be the protagonists with the always special Carrera Chinij@s at 17:00 hours, in addition to performances and many other surprises that will be given in the same square of Haría.

Haría Titán is sponsored by the Haría City Council, the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Lanzarote Sports Destination, the Department of Youth of the Cabildo of Lanzarote Promotur Turismo Canarias, S.A., the Department of the Environment with Geopark, the Island Sports Service, the Security Consortium, Emergencies, Rescue, Prevention and Extinction of Fires of Lanzarote, Canary Islands Latitude of Life, CICAR, Líneas Marítimas Romero, Más Deportes and We Create.
