Last March 15th, Lanzarote vibrated with the best lightning chess in the Lanzarote Blitz Championship 2025. A tournament that brought together the fastest and most strategic players on the island. After a day full of emotion, Julius Pleschke, from the Tinajo Club, was crowned champion, securing his ticket to represent the island in the Canary Islands Blitz Championship, which will be held in La Palma.
The competition had a great turnout, with a total of 65 players who came together to demonstrate their skills in this demanding format of fast games, where decision-making in seconds is key. This high turnout reflects the growing interest in chess on the island and the commitment of the players to the sport.
The tournament podium was composed of Manuel Navio and Katharine Bangiev, both from the Lanzaloe 1Chess Club, who achieved second and third place, respectively. Their performance made clear the high level of Lanzarote chess and the great competitiveness of the event.
The Lanzarote Blitz 2025 is consolidated as an essential event in the island's chess calendar, reaffirming the emerging talent and enthusiasm for this discipline. With an eye on the next challenge in La Palma, Pleschke will have the opportunity to face the best players in the archipelago and fight for the regional title.
