The 4 Stage MTB Race Lanzarote 2024 has started with an exciting first stage in which Ismael Ventura in the men's category and Tessa Kortekaas in the women's category have been the main protagonists. The sunny weather accompanied the participants in their premiere.
The race, organized by Club La Santa and included in the calendar of the International Cycling Union (UCI), has brought together 400 bikers who will tour the island of Lanzarote over four exciting days. In addition, it has the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo of Lanzarote, the European Sports Destination by Turismo de Lanzarote and the municipalities of Tinajo and Teguise as collaborating entities.
Ventura dominated from the beginning in the men's category; equality until the end in the women's category
The first stage had a route of 48 kilometers, with the beginning and end in the facilities of Club La Santa, with a very high pace since the start.
In the men's category, a prominent leader is presented from the beginning. In the first 26 kilometers, Ismael Ventura placed himself at the head of the race with a very high pace, with the Greek Periklis Ilias and the Aragonese Jorge Lamiel being the closest pursuers to the leader. In the second part of the stage, Ventura pushed to increase his speed and take a comfortable victory, arriving with an eight-minute difference over Ilias. The third position was for Jorge Lamiel, who also arrived eight minutes behind the first classified.
In the women's category, no one could take the Dutch Tessa Kortekaas off the lead. Kortekaas crossed the finish line in first position, with the Romanian Manuela Muresan arriving only two minutes later, while the Slovak Janka Stevkova completed the provisional podium of this 4 Stage MTB Race Lanzarote that is already underway.

As a novelty of this year's edition, it is worth noting the presence and participation of e-bikers for the first time.
On Sunday morning, the second stage will be held, this time of 55 kilometers. The cyclists will leave again from Club La Santa towards Mancha Blanca, Tinguatón or Tinajo, with fast and fluid trails, low tunnels and some closed sections, followed by a downhill section to the finish line at Club La Santa, offering an incredible view of the ocean.
