The seventh matchday of Group A of the Men's First National Division was marked by the Canary Islands derby that pitted Balonmano Ingenio against Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife on Saturday afternoon, two teams that have positioned themselves in the upper part of the standings. The team from Gran Canaria ended San José Obrero's streak of six straight wins, handing the team led by David Betancort their first defeat of the season.

The first minutes saw an exchange of goals, but soon Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife had the first advantage, completing a 0-4 run with goals from Mauro Jaureguiberry, two goals from Javi Aragón, one of them from seven meters, and Joel Armas (4-6). Two turnovers in attack allowed Balonmano Ingenio to tie the score (6-6).

Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife was having problems in defense to stop the rival's attacks, changing to a 5:1 defense with Joel Armas in the advanced position. In the final minutes of the first half, Balonmano Ingenio pulled away on the scoreboard, taking a four-goal lead. The score was 16 to 12 at halftime.

The passage through the locker rooms allowed Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife to react. A second half that began with a 0-4 run to tie the score again (16-16). The visitors were not satisfied and even took the lead after many minutes, with Mauro Jaureguiberry scoring to put his team ahead (19-20).

The reaction of Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife faded as the minutes passed, with defensive frailties reappearing and allowing Balonmano Ingenio to score. Before the halfway point of the second half, the locals once again had a three-goal lead (25-22), forcing David Betancort to stop the match to try to get his players back into the game.

Balonmano Ingenio finished breaking the game with six minutes left, with goals from Michael Martín and Rodrigo Ortega from the right wing, to increase the lead to six goals. With the score of 38 to 25, the game came to an end at the Pedro Padilla Municipal Pavilion.
