Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen returned this Saturday to the path of victories at the Pabellon La Canaleta in their visit to Grupo USA Handbol Mislata (21-25) in a match corresponding to the nineteenth round of the División de Honor Oro femenina.
The tiñoseras thus achieve their third victory in the last four matches and avoid the red lantern of the classification. Those of Jesús Casanova climb up to the thirteenth position of the classification table with nine points. Mislata drops to the eleventh place with two points more than the tiñoseras.
The black and yellows dominated the match from start to finish, without great differences, but enough to achieve an important victory that relaunches them in the race for permanence. In the second half, the performance of the "tiñoseras" dropped in both parts of the Valencian court, giving options to the locals to get closer on the scoreboard, but Puerto del Carmen managed to react in time.
Local player Ainara Gordo became the top scorer of the match with nine goals. In Puerto del Carmen, Beatriz Masseu stood out with eight goals, well supported in the offensive aspect by Brenda Torres's seven goals.
For the Tiñosero coach, Jesús Casanova, it has been “a new and I believe deserved and necessary victory, based on a very strong defense in the first half, with a lot of fluidity, a lot of movement, a lot of toughness and forcefulness in defense, which allowed us to have counterattacks. In attack it's true that a little more accurate than in previous matches and, with that difference, we went to halftime, seven up. In the second half, especially at the beginning, we re-entered a dynamic of errors, of lowering that defensive forcefulness, of being passive in defense, we did not move with the precision of the first half. Mislata even managed to draw, but, fortunately, we attacked again with 7 against 6 and a little more effectiveness arrived, both in attack and in defense, and we got those two little points that were so necessary. Now it's time to prepare the two matches we have left. First that postponed one from Bolaños in which, unfortunately, we will have the absences of Beatriz and Oriana, but we are going to do everything possible to get the victory. Then those three matches we have left with direct rivals are coming and we are going to see if we achieve that qualification,” concluded the coach of Puerto del Carmen.
Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen will return to competition next Saturday, March 7, at 6:00 p.m., at the Municipal de Tías, where it will play the postponed match corresponding to the tenth round against Vino Doña Berenguela Bm. Bolaños, a team that this week fell at home against another of the teams from the bottom of the table, Schar Colores Zaragoza (23-24) and is in fifth position in the standings with twenty-four points after a record in seventeen matches of eleven wins, two draws, and four losses.
