The 5-meter boat season in Lanzarote came to a close this Saturday with a decisive day marked by emotion, uncertainty, and weather conditions. Finally, the Graciplus, skippered by Nete Armas, was proclaimed champion of the Lanzarote la Isla Diferente League, thus achieving its first title under this name and adding a new success to the record of its skipper, who reaches his fourth league championship in this category.

The competition's closing was loaded with expectations, with three outstanding boats in the fight for the title. In addition to the league's outcome, the day would also define which teams would qualify for the next Canary Islands Championship, which will be held in Lanzarote over the next two weekends.

The wind conditions complicated the work of the Regatta Committee, which was forced to make several adjustments to the competition field. The constant changes in direction and the low intensity of the wind tested the patience and skill of skippers and crews. Finally, only one race could be held, enough to define the outcome of a very competitive competition on the water.

The partial victory of the day went to Pedro de León's Fayna, a result that allowed them to climb to the final third place overall. Second in the race was Nete Armas' Graciplus, which took advantage of the stumble of Kevin Cabrera's Triton, ninth in this last race, to win the championship. The southerners, who started as leaders, had to settle for the runner-up spot.

With these results, the final standings for the Lanzarote la Isla Diferente League 2025 are led by Graciplus with 11 points, followed by Tritón with 14 and Fayna with 20.

The victory of the Graciplus represents the first league championship for this boat, but the fourth for its skipper, Nete Armas, who had already been proclaimed champion in 2014, 2016 and 2017, on all those occasions with the Congelados Africamar. This new title reinforces his career as one of the benchmarks of the 5-meter boat in Lanzarote.

Along with the top three finishers, Graciplus, Tritón, and Fayna, the following teams have qualified for the "City and Port of Arrecife" Canary Islands Championship of 5-Meter Latin Sail Boats: Bernasan, Playa Dorada, Romerito, Furia II Renault, Biosfera Express, Jameos del Agua, Playa Blanca, Federico Pescamar Titerroy, Furia, Haría, and CID Náuticos II.

With the closing of the Lanzarote la Isla Diferente League 2025, the island season of barquillos once again demonstrates the high competitive level and the deep roots of Latin sailing barquillos on the island. The Graciplus of Nete Armas enters its name in the history of the competition and prepares, along with the rest of the classified, to represent Lanzarote in the imminent Canary Islands Championship.
