Diego Rodríguez (14 years old), Amán Rodríguez (12 years old), Hugo Rodríguez (15 years old), África Rodríguez (14 years old) and Iriome Doreste (15 years old) are the five Lanzarote natives chosen by the Spanish Ultimate (flying disc) National Team to play in the World Championship of this sport, which will be held in Logroño from July 11 to 19. All of them are players from the Mubidisk Lanzarote team and will be the only five Canarians representing Spain. On one hand, there is the U20 Open World Championship, and on the other, coinciding on the same dates, the U20 Women's World Championship will be held.

In the competitions, they will face the United States, Germany, and France, among others, and they assure that "we are going to give our best."

This Friday, June 26, they traveled to Salamanca to warm up for a tournament where "we will have the opportunity to meet teammates and coaches from the national team, apart from living a new experience in this sport that we are passionate about."

Ultimate is a sport born in New Jersey, United States, which arrived in the Canary Islands many years after its inception. A student from Lanzarote who was studying in Tenerife was lucky enough to play there and since then has not been able to detach himself from the frisbee. He did not hesitate to gather a few boys in Lanzarote and set up a team, Mubidisk Lanzarote.

A few years ago, Alberto Rodríguez and Jesús Ramos decided to teach this sport and their way of living it to the youngest on the island thanks to a project from the Active Summer of the San Bartolomé City Council. "Nobody expected that children from this humble and family club would be called to the World Championship, and we believe that the Spanish national team will call more children from this youth academy in a few years," declare the team.
