Magec Tías Against Gender Violence suffered a defeat in the match played on Saturday afternoon against Homs UE Mataró Femení Maresme. Despite a promising start, the errors of the Lanzarote team allowed the locals to take the victory.
The match, which was held in Catalan territory, had been labeled as a "trap match" by Jesús García, the coach of Magec Tías, before the match. The Barcelona team had not yet achieved a victory in the current season, but Magec Tías was determined to prevent that from happening and break, in turn, a streak of two consecutive games without winning.
The match started well for the Lanzarote team, even managing to finish the first quarter with a lead on the scoreboard. However, by the time they reached halftime, the lead had vanished, with a score of 23-22 in favor of Mataró.
The problems arose in the second half of the match. Magec Tías Against Gender Violence committed a series of errors in turnovers that the locals skillfully took advantage of, gradually increasing the difference on the scoreboard. The talks of the Magec Tías coach did not seem to have any effect, and the match became increasingly uphill, ending with a score of 57-38 in favor of Mataró.
Jesús García commented on the match that "we were not comfortable", he explained that "in the first half we were able to compete and balance the match, but in the second half, our mistakes with many turnovers took us out of the match. With this defeat, Magec Tías Against Gender Violence has two wins and three losses in the current season, falling to ninth position in the standings of the Women's League 2. Coach García expressed his drive to improve and grow as a team. We have to turn the situation around and be able to compete again to continue improving and growing".
In the next match, Magec Tías Against Gender Violence will host ADBA Sanfer, eleventh classified, at home on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. in the Tías Municipal Pavilion. ADBA Sanfer has one win and four losses in the current season.
