Eloy Woelke, a canoeist from the Marlines de Lanzarote Canoeing Club, participated this Saturday in the LI Spanish Championship of Young Promises Sprint in the Children's category, competing against 125 athletes from more than 90 national clubs.
The event took place in Banyoles, Girona. Eloy traveled there accompanied by his coach Ignacio Soler. After many years, the Marlines returned to the Olympic track mode, which takes place in calm waters. The Lanzarote paddlers are more accustomed to rowing in the surfski mode with waves and wind.

That is why the seventh place achieved by Eloy feels like a gold medal. The young paddler, with hardly any training in this modality, only 15 days before, managed to get into the leading group and fight with the best children in Spain.
The Marlines continue the line of work, collecting good results. In a few weeks they will return to the competition in the II Spanish Cup of Sea Kayak in Villajoyosa to face the Qualifying for the World Championship.
