The bay of Arrecife was witness this Sunday morning to the third regatta of the season of the Island League of Latin Sail Dinghies of 8.55 Meters Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism of Lanzarote, organized by the Island Federation of Latin Sail Dinghies of Lanzarote and with the support of the Island Sports Service of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. El Graciosero Líneas Romero of Virginia Morales dominated the regatta from the start, scoring the victory in the Federico Pescamar Titerroy Trophy and adding the second triumph of the season.
The regatta started with a wind blowing with an intensity of 9-10 knots, which increased throughout the morning. Puerto del Arrecife of David Martín and Volcán de la Corona of Pedro de León had the first mishap at the start, suffering an offside and relegating them to the last positions. In addition, both boats protested each other and the protest will have to be resolved during the week.
El Graciosero Líneas Romero of Virginia Morales took the lead in the regatta and did not release the first position until he crossed the finish line as the winner. Maramajo of Andrea Stinga mounted the first beacon of the regatta field in second place, followed by Puerto del Arrecife, Villa de Teguise of Santiago González and Volcán de la Corona.
In the second upwind to the regatta field, Puerto del Arrecife and Volcán de la Corona completed the great comeback to place themselves in the second and third position, respectively. Maramajo was having problems in the maneuvers and was giving up positions, and Villa de Teguise was closing the regatta for the moment.
Puerto del Arrecife of David Martín kept trying until the finish line, but it was not enough to reach El Graciosero Líneas Romero who scored the victory in the Federico Pescamar Titerroy Trophy, and had to settle for second place. Third in the finish line was Volcán de la Corona and Villa de Teguise surpassed Maramajo to finish the regatta in fourth position.
After the celebration of the first three regattas of the season, Volcán de la Corona of Pedro de León retains the lead of the Island League of Latin Sail Dinghies of 8.55 Meters Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism of Lanzarote with 7 points. With 8 points is El Graciosero Líneas Romero and with 9 Puerto del Arrecife. Villa de Teguise with 11 points and Maramajo with 12, are distanced from the head of the classification.
At the end of the regatta, the awards ceremony of the Federico Pescamar Titerroy Trophy took place, an event that took place in the facilities of the Insular Center of Nautical Sports, in Marina Colón. The competition will resume on May 11 with the celebration of the fourth regatta of the season, which will take place in the town of Punta Mujeres to celebrate the Haría Town Hall Trophy.
