Lasso C. / Photo: Presican.- The Catalan and world champion David Meca revalidated his title as champion of the Lanzarote Swimming Crossing in the XIII edition, in a test that was held last Saturday under the organization of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Teguise City Council and Real Club Victoria of Gran Canaria, with a great display of technical and human resources inside and outside the water.
380 participants who embarked from La Graciosa and after arriving at the "Bajo Risco" beach in Lanzarote, took the start, first the professionals and then the rest of the registered. Some sea and wind that did not affect this popular crossing and the fact is proven by the fact that only 6 withdrawals were registered.
Sunny day, a lot of atmosphere throughout the Island and a lot of public also coming from other islands, to be present at an International Crossing that is consolidating in the long distance swimming circuit.
Security had special support from Emerlan, SAR Helicopter, with the GEAS of the Civil Guard, GIE Security Helicopter of the Government of the Canary Islands, Red Cross of Land and Sea and the Salvamar boat of Maritime Rescue, which coordinated all support boats.
Meca invested a total of 27 minutes and 41 seconds, to reach Caleta del Sebo at the finish line of La Graciosa, after 2.6 kilometers of route ahead of the other great figure, Alberto Jorge from Gran Canaria, current champion of the Canary Islands Triathlon, who entered 57 seconds later, both with a notable advantage over the third classified, the German Steffen Liebertz.
Regarding the women's category, victory for Amable Jerez from Tenerife, followed by Toli Bordá from Salinas de Vecindario (Gran Canaria) and Lorena de León, from the Trialón Club of Tinajo (Lanzarote).
The podium in the junior and children's categories had José Muiñoz from the Real Club Náutico de Tenerife, [Oscar->http://oscars-awards.com] Padrón, from Lanzarote and Bárbara Robaina, from the Club Natación Ciudad Alta de Gran Canaria, as the first classified.
