Lanzarote experienced the triathlon festival on Saturday, with the celebration of the thirteenth edition of the Ocean Lava Lanzarote, which turned the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen into the epicenter of regional, national and international triathlon. At 08:00 the race started on Los Pocillos beach, with the participation of more than half a thousand athletes of all ages and nationalities. César Vera and Lydia Dant were the winners of the main event of the Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon.
The "Half Distance" modality was the main event of the thirteenth edition of the Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon, which on this occasion was also valid for the Canary Islands Half Distance Championship for Age Groups. The participants in this modality had to complete a course of 1.9 kilometers swimming, 90 kilometers of cycling and 21 kilometers of running, and in which they received the warmth of the people who followed the event on the Avenida de Las Playas in Puerto del Carmen.
The men's category was marked by emotion and the race was not decided until the final meters. On the last lap of the foot race, César Vera took the lead and crossed the finish line as the winner with a time of 4 hours, 4 minutes and 42 seconds. He was just 25 seconds ahead of Nicholas Peter Ward (Tridente Tinajo), who had to settle for second place after leading the race for much of it. And the podium was completed with the third place of Laurens Verluyten (Team Wcup Veldeman) with a time of 04:06:20.
Lydia Dant lived up to her status as favorite and dominated the "Half Distance" modality from start to finish. The British woman won the Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon with a time of 4 hours, 23 minutes and 30 seconds. The Canary Islander Zaira Lorenzo (Club Natación Reales) took second place on the podium with a time of 4:29:26, and third place went to Ana Belén Sendín (05:03:36).

The triathletes in the "Olympic" modality had to complete a course of 1,500 meters of swimming, 40 kilometers of cycling and 10 kilometers of running. Jorge Wilkes (Chamo Díaz Team) set an infernal pace from the start of the race, increasing the difference with the passing of the kilometers and crossing the finish line with a time of 1 hour, 55 minutes and 32 seconds. Arturo Javier Barro (02:02:45) was the second classified and the third drawer of the podium was for Javier Dorronsoro (02:04:02).
In the women's category, the dominator of the race was Carolina Nowak (Club La Santa) and she had no rivals along the course to cross the finish line as the winner of the "Olympic" modality with a time of 2 hours, 18 minutes and 30 seconds. The women's podium was completed with the second place of Maike Dohling (CD Travatlon) with a time of 2:35:48, and third was Belén Díaz (CD Candetlón) with a mark of 02:43:43.

The participants of the "Sprint" modality were the first to start on Los Pocillos beach, having to complete a first segment of 400 meters of swimming, continue with a 40 kilometer bicycle route and finish with a 2.5 kilometer foot race
The members of the Chamo Díaz Team took the top three positions in the men's category. The winner was Juan Daniel González with a time of 39 minutes and 45 seconds. His teammate Rodrigo Gallego finished just under two seconds behind and the podium was completed with the third position of Iván Díaz (40:03).
In the women's category, the victory of the "Sprint" modality was for Rosa Svyeshinkova (Chamo Díaz Team), crossing the finish line with a time of 43 minutes and 53 seconds. The podium was completed by Loren Ward (46:21) and Jessica Alonso (47:56), second and third, respectively.
