New week of celebration within the Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence", as Carolina Mateo reaches the figure of 150 official matches in the national league competition.
Carolina Mateo Cañada was born on July 29, 2000 and from a young age she began to stand out in her club, CD Magec Tías, with the recruitment department of the Spanish Basketball Federation noticing her projection, managing to debut in the different lower categories of the national team.
She concluded her training process in the Segle XXI team, a club associated with the FEB, where the players with the greatest projection compete with more established rivals in the competition.
Thus, on October 1, 2016, she debuted in Liga Femenina 2, with Segle XXI visiting Cortegada. Her trip to Vilagarcía de Arousa ended in defeat by 80 to 70, but allowed Carolina Mateo to play her first 18 minutes in the national league, scoring 4 points. That season, 2016-2017, she played a total of 26 matches and 11 more the following season.
At the end of the season, her training process also ended and the player was forced to look for a team, with CB Ibaizabal being her next destination. She stayed at the Basque club for only a few months, in which she played 9 matches, before returning to her club, with which she finished the 2018-2019 season, adding 17 more matches.
One of the prodigal daughters of CD Magec Tías had returned home to put into practice everything she had learned abroad and help the Liga Femenina 2 team achieve the objectives that were set. Despite having offers to move, she remained firm in her decision to continue in the team where she trained, playing 21, 23 and 25 matches in the following seasons, respectively.
Last weekend against CB Aridane she played her 18th match this season, reaching 150 in national competition, with an average of more than twenty-five minutes per match and a total of 1,361 points scored.
