The young talents of Lanzarote continue to take the island to the top in international sporting events. Carla Medina, 11 years old, achieved a third place in the European Kids Jiu-Jitsu held in Lisbon on October 26 in the -32 kilogram category

This championship takes place within the Jiu Jitsu Brazilian (IBJJF), the largest federation of this sport. "More than a European it seemed like a world championship because there were athletes from all over the world", the athlete expressed on her Instagram profile.

Medina managed to win the first fight with an arm lock, which led her to advance to the semifinals, where she reached the bronze medal. "I feel that I could have given more of myself but I wasn't one hundred percent because being an international competition I was nervous", she reveals.

The training part is very important in sports competitions. In the case of Carla Medina, she trains five times a week and three of them are in jiu jitsu, a sport she has been practicing since she was 9 years old

The athlete continues training to participate in two weeks in the SpainBJJ Tour championship in Valencia, although its celebration is not yet confirmed due to the tragedy caused by the DANA in the Mediterranean province.
