Boxer Manuel Santacruz 'Palenke', honored by the Spanish Olympic Committee

The Lanzarote native will receive the Olympic Insignia "for his outstanding contribution and development of boxing in Spain"

The Executive Committee of the Spanish Olympic Committee, in its session on November 17 and at the proposal of the Distinctions Commission, agreed to award the Olympic Insignia to the Lanzarote boxer Manuel Santacruz 'Palenke' "for his outstanding contribution and development of boxing in Spain"

In a letter sent to Palenke to communicate the distinction, the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco, congratulates the boxer "for such a well-deserved award", indicating that the date of delivery of the Olympic Insignia will be communicated by the Spanish Boxing Federation. 

Palenke, who was the national boxing coach for 25 years, received the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands in 2018 and last year was distinguished with the gold and diamond badge by the Canary Islands Boxing Federation, in a tribute that took place during the celebration of the Canary Islands Championship in Arrieta. During the same, the Lanzarote native also received a plaque from the Haría City Council, the municipality in which he resides and in which he launched the first boxing school in the Canary Islands in 1990.
