The Auria Bádminton Club's competition team had an event this past weekend in the TOP TTR San Sebastián de La Gomera, being the first tournament counting towards the national ranking to be held on the "Colombian island". The club's young players had an extraordinary day of competition, winning a total of 8 medals; 4 golds, 1 silver, and 3 bronzes. The performance of Álvaro Guadalupe and Vera García, players who reached the top of the podium twice, should be highlighted.
In the U13 male category, Álvaro Guadalupe and Aitami Fernández occupied the first two positions in the final standings of the TOP TTR San Sebastián de La Gomera. Álvaro Guadalupe in the group stage of group A defeated Eduardo Jesús González (21-15, 21-14) and his teammate Aitami Fernández (21-12, 21-17). And Aitami Fernández took the silver medal by defeating Eduardo Jesús González (21-7, 21-9).
Vera García was proclaimed champion of the tournament in the U13 female category. The Auria Bádminton Club player won in the group stage against Elena Thihoa Gutiérrez (21-6, 21-4) and Nara Morales (21-7, 21-2). In the semi-final round, she achieved victory against Julieta López (21-4, 21-8). And in the grand final, Vera García asserted her condition as the number one seed to take the gold medal against Gretta Hernández (21-10, 22-20).
In the doubles modality, the Auria Bádminton Club players won two gold medals. In the U13 mixed doubles category, Álvaro Guadalupe and Vera García were proclaimed champions of the tournament by defeating Mateo Velázquez – Gara López (21-8, 21-9) and Lukas Santos – Elena Thihoa Gutiérrez (21-4, 21-2). And in the U13 male doubles category, Aitami Fernández partnered with Manuel Cabrera (Lanzarote Raqueta Club), defeating Hugo de la Paz Paradas – Lukas Santos (21-9, 21-8) and Eduardo José González – Francisco José González (21-10, 21-19).
In the U19 female category, Patricia Vargas won a bronze medal at the TOP TTR San Sebastián de La Gomera. In the group stage, the Auria Bádminton Club player achieved victory against Daria Toporivschi (21-6, 21-11) and Helena Barbancho (21-6, 18-21, 23-21). And she was eliminated in the semi-final round against Leyna Santana (21-13, 16-21, 18-21).
The medal table of the Auria Badminton Club in the TOP TTR San Sebastián de La Gomera was completed with two bronze medals in the doubles modality. The one achieved by Hugo de la Paz Paradas together with Lukas Santos (CB Tiguaneje) in the under-13 category and the one obtained by Adrián Carabali together with Marcos Mariscal (Club Deportivo Pajaritos) in the under-19 category.
