Registrations have been open since July 10 for the XXXI edition of the RCNA Ciudad de Arrecife Triathlon, one of the most emblematic events on the Lanzarote sports calendar, which will be held on August 17. This event, which is part of the program of the San Ginés festivities, has the support of the Arrecife City Council, the Lanzarote Cabildo and the Canary Islands Government.

The official presentation took place this morning at the La Recova facilities with the presence of the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, the island councilor for Sports, Juan Monzón, the councilor for Tourism and Sports, Eli Merino, and the technical director of the event, Erica Machín, representing the Canary Islands Triathlon Federation.

The event, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife (RCNA) and the Canary Islands Triathlon Federation, with institutional collaboration, is part of the official calendar of the Canary Islands Triathlon Series 2025. In the Sprint modality it will be scored for the general circuit, and in the individual Supersprint it will count for the Canary Islands Talents Series, as well as for the Canary Islands children's, cadet and youth championships.

150 registered already and forecast to reach 250

Erica Machín confirmed that there are already 150 registered, and that it is expected to reach 250 participants before the closing of registration, available on the official website of the Canary Islands Triathlon Federation https://www.fecantri.org/xxxi-triatlon-sprint-ciudad-arrecife

Councilor Eli Merino stressed that this event "has long been integrated into the municipal strategy to consolidate Arrecife as the capital of events and leisure", like other recent events such as the Lanzarote Summer Challenge, the Eco Rallye, or the Arrecife Summer Fest.

In addition, she stressed the constant collaboration of the City Council with the RCNA, an alliance that has allowed this event to remain alive for more than three decades.

The triathlon, in the DNA of Lanzarote

For his part, Councilor Juan Monzón congratulated the City Council for being a "reference in the Canary Islands in the celebration of major sporting events", and reiterated the Cabildo's support for federations, clubs and athletes, especially on an island where "triathlon is part of its DNA".

Mayor Yonathan de León, who closed the event, valued the joint effort to ensure that this edition is held on a key weekend of the San Ginés festivities, which will allow the arrival of visitors from other islands and the Peninsula. "Our goal is to consolidate Arrecife as the capital of sports and events," he said.
