The team formed by Antonio Suárez-Kimberley González clearly won the XIII Slalom on Land of Tinajo-Lanzarote, "Memorial Jefry Hernández". They achieved the victory with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX, where after a few participations they have managed to climb to the top of the podium, in a modality almost new for "Toñín", who is known for his titles and triumphs on the asphalt of Lanzarote aboard the Porsche 911 GT3. With his co-driver, they take the lead in the Canary Islands Championship, which started this year from the island of volcanoes under the organization of CD. Evesport.

The Lanzarote natives Suárez and González took the lead from the first of the four passes, two in each direction of the Tinajo-La Santa section, giving no options to anyone as they repeated the scratches in the following three heats and in the end added an advantage of 42.6 seconds over the next classified. These were the Gran Canaria natives Francisco Álamo-Rita del Pino Rodríguez with another Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII, who in this peculiar section found it impossible to catch the winners. In addition, the section was delicate for everyone due to its condition after the recent rains and the one that fell during the dispute of the same.

The podium was completed by the current regional champions, the Tenerife natives Iván García-Eduardo Melgar with their characteristic BMW Compact Proto, who were only 3.7 seconds away from climbing another step in the trio of honor, leaving a good impression in the face of defending the title this season.

In two-wheel drive, the best were Juan de la Cruz-Marcos González with the SEAT Ibiza, who surpassed Víctor Barreto-Kevin Martín by 9.7 seconds with an Ibiza GTi 2.0.-16V, classified respectively in the fourth and fifth places of the final general. Also noteworthy was the performance of the winners of class 4 and eighth overall with a Peugeot 106, as well as the classification of the Toyota Starlet of Adián Pérez-Javier Padrón, first of class 3 and ninth overall.

A total of 20 teams in passenger cars finished the race running all the sections, closing the classification with great honor the small Toyota Aygo of Airán Montesdeoca-Zebensuí López.

CAR-CROSS

In the car-cross category, regularity won and with that attribute the best was Daniel Pérez Alonso, who prevailed with his single-seater La Bae SX01 by only 4.5 seconds over Yeray González with another similar mount, who in turn took 13.7 seconds from the third classified on the final podium, Juan Izquierdo with an MV Racing SP2. It so happens that none of the three obtained partial victories in any of the four heats. These were for the provincial champion Simón Medina (Kincar Kin 1604), who won three of the four passes, leaving the other for Raúl Armas (Speedcar Extrem), winner of the slalom last year. Medina sank in the second heat by losing two minutes in an incident, while Armas had problems in the third session and lost a minute.

The Majorero Rubén de León with an MV Racing SP2 finished fourth overall, only 4.1 from the podium and took the trophy of class 11, while in class 10 Borja Rejón won with a Speedcar 2. Curiously, the first four classified of the car-cross had a sum of times lower than that obtained by the winners in cars. A total of 13 car-cross were classified in this first round of the Canary Islands Slalom Championship.

The organization of Evesport and the City Council of Tinajo had to work hard to ensure that the condition of the section was in order, as the recent rains have affected it considerably. But in fact, throughout the race it also rained unusually in this modality of slaloms on land. But luckily, those rains here were not as strong as they fell in other parts of Lanzarote, where they even caused several floods and road problems.
