Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote reaffirmed its position at the top of the Women's Division of Honor Gold with a hard-fought 22-29 victory against Lobas Global Atac Oviedo at the Florida Arena. In a direct duel for the lead, the visitors showed defensive solidity and offensive efficiency, extending their lead to four points over the second-placed team and adding their seventh consecutive victory.
The match began with maximum equality, reflecting the respect and prior study between both teams. Zonzamas, thanks to a solid defense led by Nahomi Márquez, managed to contain the initial attacks of Lobas, although nerves in attack kept the score tight. Valentina Menucci, key under the posts, allowed the visitors to stay alive until Brenda Roger, with a trademark feint, tied the game at 4 in the 15th minute.
From there, Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote became a steamroller and the Asturian team had to call a timeout in the 17th minute after two counterattacks led by Btenda Roger and Andrea Claramonte that put the score at 4-7.
Lobas did not see the goal again until the 25th minute, when a goal from Marta da Silva rescued their hopes. However, Zonzamas gave no respite and, taking advantage of the opponent's mistakes when playing with an empty goal, reached halftime with a resounding 8-17.
After the break, Lobas tried to react and came out better than the batatero team, managing to cut the distance with a good partial. Valentina Menucci put on her work overalls and was once again decisive under the posts, with key saves that kept the visitors in control of the match.
A new offensive surge marked by speed, together with a very serious defense, put a 20-26 on the scoreboard that left Lobas without options. Not even the local timeouts could stop a Zonzamas that closed the match with a resounding 22-29, sentenced with a shot at will by Mireia Torras.
With this result, Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote extends its lead in the standings, consolidating itself as leader with a four-point advantage and closer to the desired promotion to the highest category. In the next match, the team will travel to Santander to face Uneatlantico Pereda.
