The karateka from Lanzarote, Amelie Yaiza Skiba Birkelbach, belonging to the Arrecife Club, Karate Poliarrecife, has been called up by the Spanish Karate Federation to join the National Team that will represent Spain in the XXXI Mediterranean Championship 2025, which will be held in the Spanish city of Guadalajara, between September 12 and 14.
This is an international championship of national teams from federations attached to the Mediterranean Karate Federation Union, within the calendar of championships of the World Federation. The participation of more than 20 countries from Europe, Africa and Asia is expected, with a total of about 900 competitors.
Amelie will participate in the Female Cadet Individual Kumite -61 kg category, which will be held on Saturday, September 13.
Undoubtedly, Amelie's call-up by the Royal Spanish Karate Federation is endorsed by the great trajectory of the karateka from Lanzarote in karate competition, in all areas, although she is only 15 years old.
She has been, up to six times, Champion of the Canary Islands, being the current champion, she reached the runner-up of Spain in 2023, she has achieved nine medals in the National Karate League, eight medals in international tournaments, and a medal in the WKF Karate1 Youth League (youth world league of the World Karate Federation), being currently, in the Female Cadet Kumite -61 kg category, the second in the Absolute National Ranking, and the fifteenth in the World Ranking.
