The Spanish Match Race Championship, held this past weekend in Alicante, was attended by three sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, who won the title of national champions. Alberto Morales, Miguel Ángel Morales and Gabriel Gallego, were part of the crew that won the title of Spanish champions, after an intense weekend in which they faced the best international crews.
The Real Club Náutico de Calpe, in Alicante, hosted the Spanish Match Race Championship this past weekend. A total of nine crews competed in the national championship, also counting with the presence of several international teams, who increased the level of the tests held in the regatta field.
In the Match Race mode, the crews compete in different elimination phases until reaching the grand final. The boat in which Alberto Morales, Miguel Ángel
Morales and Gabriel Gallego competed reached the semi-final round, not being able to add any victory against Poland in the disputed regattas. They competed for third place overall against the New Zealand boat, with the Lanzarote team adding two victories.
Alberto Morales and Miguel Ángel Morales, sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, together with the Catalan Alberto Cabré, score their second consecutive title of champions of
Spain Match Race, after the one added in the last edition in the youth category. For Gabriel Gallego it is his first title in this modality, and the winning boat of the
nSpanish Match Race Championship also included the participation of the Valencian Thomas Sánchez.
The president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Julio Romero, and the Board of Directors of the club wishes to congratulate Alberto Morales, Miguel Ángel Morales and Gabriel Gallego, for the title of Match Race champions, and that especially enhances the sporting record of the Morales brothers, after conquering last year this same competition in the youth category.
