Undoubtedly, among so many parties and candidates, it will be difficult for you to decide who to trust to be your representative in Madrid. Surely UPL (United for Lanzarote) is not the first option that comes to mind. Aware of being a new party, still under construction, we have decided to rush our participation and take part in these elections to the Senate and Congress, given the situation of extreme gravity and political abandonment of our islands. We are the only option for Gracioceros and Lanzaroteños who want to have their own independent voice. We are still clean and not very ideologized. We are not on the side of the left or the right. We only want to represent and defend the interests of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
We are the only party that shows in its logo, as you will see on the ballots, the figure of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. Others have acronyms that are better known than ours, but they also have political bosses to whom they owe their position in Tenerife, Gran Canaria or Madrid. It is difficult to defend our people if your position depends on other places. Only in this way, for example, can we understand what happened with the recent Canary electoral reform. Where the political weight of our islands is harmed and reduced with the complicit silence of absolutely all our parliamentarians. Subject to their parties, under the risk of losing their place on the electoral lists. We intend to owe ourselves only to Lanzarote and La Graciosa. We need to make our voice heard. Demand and demand as equals with CC in Tenerife, or with PSOE, PP or whoever is in power in Madrid. At UPL we don't want what happened in the PP, CS, NC or others to happen to us, that the lists are decided and imposed from outside. Here, those who work and defend our island are rewarded, not those who are subservient to their party, or its executive. Many times betraying our island and its voters. That is why UNITED FOR LANZAROTE is the only way out for those who want to defend our legitimate interests. Pure and hard insularism. More necessary now than ever.
That is why Natalia and Laureano are proposing themselves to the people of La Graciosa and Lanzarote to be Parliamentarian and Senator starting on Sunday. Our candidates only depend on the will of the people of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. Tired of the deceptions of the usual parties. Of professionalized politicians who run those parties, in some cases for 20 or 30 years, only to maintain their personal interests and powers. Who reward by sending to the Senate or Parliament those who are more veteran as a reward for their submission and services rendered. Not to our islands, but to their parties. The representatives of UPL are aware of the limited possibilities of competing in these elections on equal terms with the major parties. Knowing that some media owe themselves to these traditional parties, and will not let us peek or even introduce ourselves. However, we will not miss the opportunity to be present and be the voice of our islands without fear. If at least we can make some people feel ashamed for the use they have made of politics, and of the trust that the people have given them, it will have been worth it. For all this, we ask Lanzaroteños and Gracioseros, all those who live here, for their support and backing if they share the message we are launching, the denunciation we are making of the abandonment of our islands, the shame that their political class gives us and the services they offer to our citizens. We also ask for the support of the insularist parties or organizations that are not participating in these elections. And of all those independents who share our illusion and demand the necessary change. We invite everyone to participate. We must recover pride, honesty and sacrifice for our land. We must recover the vital example of our grandparents, of Cesar Manrique himself. May they serve as an example, as a guide, to seek excellence and the best for the future of our land and its people.
