We will take more forceful actions to save MUFACE

January 23 2025 (16:17 WET)

The deadline for insurers to submit bids for the second tender for health coverage for many civil servants expires on January 27. These civil servants are on tenterhooks due to the unprecedented crisis occurring in the General Mutual Society of Civil Servants of the State (MUFACE), which consists of one and a half million members and their families.

Last November, the first tender was deserted due to the Government's stinginess, and the second is heading down the same path. If this one is deserted, the CSIF union, the majority in the Public Administrations, will call a strike in the General State Administration, the education sector, and Correos (Spanish Postal Service).

The time for demonstrations, such as the one our organization held on December 14 in Madrid, attended by more than 50,000 members from all over Spain to gather in front of the Muface headquarters in defense of the administrative mutualism health model, which has been working well for 50 years, has passed. It is time for more forceful actions such as calling a strike in the sectors of the Public Administration affected by the situation.

From CSIF, we call on the Government to put an end to the situation of uncertainty that Muface is experiencing, guaranteeing the continuity of the current model and quality healthcare that members have stopped receiving. We ask for the involvement of the President of the Government to give political priority to this issue that affects the health of this civil service group.

On the other hand, there are trade union organizations that are showing a double face, since, on the one hand, they demand a solution to this crisis and simultaneously campaign for members to abandon the health agreement.

At CSIF, we are daily attending to a multitude of complaints from members because they are not receiving adequate care from insurers by placing administrative obstacles or denying them appointments, tests, or surgical interventions. This is why we have filed a complaint with the Ombudsman and the European Commission. There is no right.

For the survival of MUFACE. The health of civil servants is not to be trifled with.
