In the land where the volcano seems more stable than the town hall, the neighbors have had the fortune (or misfortune) to witness an authentic free municipal telenovela instead of a serious government. Alejandro Ramírez, protagonist of our local drama, stars in an Emmy-worthy spectacle: first he resigns from his municipal areas, then he regrets it, later he threatens a motion of no confidence only to, shortly after, deny that he will support it… all amidst phone calls, opposition dinners in Costa Teguise, and plot twists that would make the best fiction series pale.
Meanwhile, the government team led by Olivia Duque (CC) and its allies speak of "institutional stability" in the same tone as someone trying to convince a cat to take a bath. The opposition councilors, for their part, find out about momentous decisions via WhatsApp and radio before through the official channels themselves, which has turned the municipal plenary into a mix between a restaurant menu and a surreal teletype.
All of this confirms that Teguise is not in political crisis…it is in full improvisation festival.
From Unidos por Lanzarote we make an alternative proposal for a prosperous and serious Teguise, so that Teguise ceases to be synonymous with political circus and becomes an exemplary municipality. For this, we propose stability and transparency (create a stable municipal government, with clear and firm pacts, where commitments are respected and not changed from one day to the next, as well as establishing official channels of direct and effective communication with citizens (citizen assemblies, weekly bulletins, broadcasting of agreements); a strategic development plan 2030 (a multi-year investment plan in infrastructure such as sidewalks, irrigation network, tourism modernization, … with clear and auditable goals, as well as promoting sustainable local employment based on smart tourism, modernized agriculture and support for local SMEs); real citizen participation (through participatory budgets, independent citizen audits and community tables by towns to gather ideas, which do not just remain as press headlines)
Why does Teguise need to be governed by Unidos por Lanzarote? It's simple, Teguise is at a crucial moment: its citizens deserve real solutions, not plot twists or political spectacles. Below, a convincing reasoning: unity around a clear project (Unidos por Lanzarote represents an alternative that prioritizes programmatic coherence over opportunistic tactics. This prevents councilors from changing course based on a bad coffee or an accidental dinner): focus on structural policies (where others see positions and strategies, Unidos por Lanzarote proposes policies for the future: modernization of tourism, investment in productive infrastructure, support for farmers, economic diversification, and transparency); stability versus fragmentation (the episodes of resignations, backtracking, opaque agreements, and no-confidence motion threats have shown that the current model generates uncertainty, blocks decisions, and alienates citizens' trust in their institutions. Unified and serious leadership would put an end to that roller coaster) and a collective interest above individual interest (a transition towards governments where the municipal project takes precedence over individual egos —as has been seen in recent erratic behaviors— would strengthen citizen participation, the legitimacy of decisions, and the perception of political justice).
As a conclusion, we are clear that Teguise deserves more debate about projects and less political drama. It deserves a government with vision, coherence, and commitment to its neighbors, not a gallery of headlines worthy of a farce. Unidos por Lanzarote offers that serious and committed alternative for the progress of the municipality
