Starting April 1st, the IES En Altavista cafeteria in Arrecife will be left with one complementary service assistant (formerly watchmen). The new situation is due to one of the employees, who had been there for more than twenty years, being transferred to another center because the number of diners has increased. From CSIF we consider that this is like robbing Peter to pay Paul. The IES En Altavista cafeteria will be left with one employee to serve 70 diners.
The functions of the complementary service assistants include placing trays, napkins, cutlery, glasses, fruit, bread, water pitchers, and chairs, observing the hygienic conditions of the cafeteria, as well as organizing entrances and exits.
The workload will be considerable for the person remaining in the cafeteria, and presumably the service will suffer considerably.
On the other hand, who will attend to the 70 diners if the only person in charge of the cafeteria gets sick?
We get the impression that they want to worsen the service and, thus, have a pretext to privatize it as has been done with maintenance and cleaning.
