Some yes and others no. What is the measure?

July 31 2017 (09:39 WEST)

I recognize that the insular policy of Lanzarote is losing the ability to surprise me, but I promise, to whoever reads these lines, not to lose the intention of trying to continue doing so and to continue with the thought of being able to change them. And especially surprising to me are the comings and goings of this Socialist Party (or what its current leadership has left of it), and some statements. The General Secretary of the PSOE says that "It makes no sense to maintain this situation" and that "it represents an unbearable discredit impossible to justify" in a press release on the brought and taken issue of the dismissal of the director of the Island Plan Office, well, I understand that when something seems unbearable to someone, what they should do (especially when it is in their power) is to stop enduring it and that for once what they do coincides with what they say.

Enough of biased opinions, ordered and decided outside of those of us who have been elected by the citizens to represent them in this Cabildo. The councilors elected in this plenary must have autonomy to make our decisions according to our commitment to the citizens, and you know, Mrs. General Secretary, that this issue has been agreed upon at the pact tables and was precisely the reason why they delayed their incorporation into the Government Group at the beginning of the legislature.

But other questions also come to my mind that I don't know if you or your party will be able to answer me:

Why don't you demand the same from your Mayor of Arrecife, who has not yet reinstated the secretary she dismissed despite having a court ruling telling her to do so?

Didn't that decision seem like an unbearable discredit to you? Why didn't you demand from your councilors at that time in Culture and Tourism the restitution of the director of the Conservatory, the Insular Theater or the Managing Director of the Tourist Centers? Didn't those dismissals on the initiative of Socialist Councilors represent an unbearable discredit?

Why do some not and others do represent an unbearable discredit and what is the measure to consider it or not as such?

I don't think I will receive answers to these questions, but I will launch what I believe is the answer: those dismissals and sentences did not represent an "unbearable discredit" for those who, from the shadows, direct the actions of the Socialist Party of Lanzarote, and this one does, although I don't understand the reasons.

I finish, as in the Plenaries, my intervention with a request: Lanzarote and its municipality, San Bartolomé, has many needs, shortcomings and pending issues to solve for which we have a public responsibility and that we have been elected by its residents to solve their problems. Let's dedicate our efforts and public interventions to solving them and not to enter once again into unnecessary political squabbles that will not improve our obligations with the citizens of this Island.
