Socialist Party, a project of stability and progress

April 2 2019 (11:38 WEST)

Let no one confuse or manipulate us: unfortunately, reality is stubborn and the crisis of a decade ago is still in the daily lives of many families, on the tablecloth of poorly supplied tables in unheated rooms, in unemployment lists that do not diminish as the years go by; or not at the rate we would like.

And two legislatures of the Popular Party Government have been of no use, which promised us a prodigious recovery thanks to its liberal management and the strangulation of the working class at the cost of cuts in rights and purchasing power.

It is true that we have emerged from the epicenter of a diabolical recession that originated far from Spain, at a physical distance with an ocean in between and at a mental distance, as few of us knew about bad banks, subprime loans or risk premiums. And that collapsed our country, also submerged in a delirium of real estate speculation whose bricks ended up crushing us.

But as I say, this advance towards the light has not been thanks to the conservative and liberal policies of the PP Government but to an immense effort by society and families, who have clenched their fists and jaw, have shared what little they had and have taken the risks that the State refused to take for them.

In this situation, the Socialist Party, of whose list to the Congress of Deputies I am a part, intends to contribute effectively to the social effort, with measures to create employment and qualify working conditions, which are essential to build the Spain we want.

That is why we propose changes that eliminate the most harmful aspects of the 2012 labor reform and a new Statute of Workers for the 21st century, which adapts to the social, economic and technological changes of the current world and which combines business competitiveness with the defense of labor rights.

The gradual increase of the minimum interprofessional wage is a priority that not only affects family economies but also consumption and therefore the commercial fabric and the service sector.

A National Employment Plan with a careful look at the rural world, a Strategic Framework for SMEs and a revision of the tax system so that large companies and taxpayers with higher incomes make an additional effort in the sustainability of public accounts are other of our economic proposals.

Being part of the PSOE bench in the Lower House is an exciting challenge; participating in the project of a solid, courageous and future Government is defending the only viable option to unite people and territories, to give stability and progress.
