One of the weapons Putin is using to try to subdue Europe is the blackmail of energy resources. Therefore, Russia's invasion of Ukraine is not only a military war, but an economic war that the European Union must face from unity and being very efficient in the use of energy. In these circumstances, saving energy means an exercise of responsibility for all European citizens, in addition to a legal and moral obligation.
Like other countries in the Union, the Spanish Government has presented an Energy Saving Plan. It is a small individual and collective effort that does not deeply affect either companies or families, but that allows us to act in a coordinated and supportive manner against Putin's threats. A Plan that, on the other hand, the popular Núñez Feijoo rightly demanded and supported a few days ago, until the president of the Community of Madrid questioned his authority, forced him to retract and led the entire Popular Party to oppose the Spanish Government's Plan.
Defending the general interest, lending a hand in times of serious difficulties for the country or institutional loyalty are not Feijoo's forte, who at some point made us conceive hopes that he could reposition the Popular Party in positions of responsibility in some State matters. Unfortunately, Isabel Díaz Ayuso has been in charge of dispelling our illusions, since Feijoo has decided to remain silent and agree with her in her trumpist drift, demonstrating a lack of authority within his party by being unable to maintain the energy saving proposals that he publicly defended very recently.
However, we are going to continue with the Energy Saving Plan despite the fact that the Popular Party has positioned itself head-on against it with the sole purpose, once again, of wearing down the progressive Government presided over by Pedro Sánchez. The Plan has been valued in the European Union far above average and no one should doubt that the rules are there to be followed: Lanzarote is going to comply with them and the Government is going to demand compliance from these apprentice seditionists.
While Feijoo seems inclined to tolerate Ayuso's snubs and be a straw leader so as not to end up like Pablo Casado, others refuse to play the game of disinformation with the popular ones. So no. The cities are not going to turn off, the public lighting will remain the same, there will not be a single less illuminated street and neither the Christmas lights nor the night lighting of monuments will be affected. Only the lights of shops and public buildings that are unoccupied from 10:00 p.m. will have to be turned off.
The Popular Party does not want to understand that this winter Putin intends to blackmail Europe with energy. For this reason, the Shock Plan for Energy Saving and Management in Air Conditioning seeks to quickly reduce energy consumption to comply with European commitments derived from the conflict in Ukraine. As in everything else, we will do it without the Popular Party, definitely an anti-system party.
