The CANARY ISLANDS SEA has 8 doors. Our sea breaks the waves on our coasts, it is the breaking BLUE, the WHITE. But for more than a year this sea has been beating with more force than usual. The blue and white of Las Afortunadas is angry, ravaging the coasts with more energy, under a resplendent YELLOW sun, demanding the paralysis of a threat that comes to us from outside: the prospecting, drilling and exploitation of oil in its waters.
A warrior REPPSOL wants to plunder the kingdom that he believes he dominates. Woe to him who falls prisoner to the SHARK. Its oil contamination would mean the collapse of the production of DRINKING WATER for the population. It is the REPPSOL that never rests, it is the SHARK that is probing, it is the REPPSOL that is spying, it is the SHARK of bad luck.
And when the sun dives on the horizon, the altered sea calms down, listening to the whispers of the men and women of the Canary Islands who say NO OIL COMPANIES, YES RENEWABLES, in a large mass demonstration. The stars shine in the night, guiding the disoriented walker and the lady of the night rests among protected natural spaces called WORLD BIOSPHERE RESERVES.
Only REPPSOL remains vigilant, only the SHARK continues to sniff, only REPPSOL remains turbulent, only the SHARK continues to sniff. But REPPSOL!, what are you looking for in this end of the world, what are you looking for in our area of recognized MARINE and FISHING WEALTH, if your thing is to plunder the seabed, the fishing resources and the tourist activity of the peoples.
The SHARK comes with siren songs, of EMPLOYMENT and wealth. What are you telling me REPPSOL! If we all know that your high-risk mining exploitation only benefits your private foreign interests and threatens our main economy and employment support, which is TOURISM. You are the marine serpent that is never full. But be careful, SHARK, with the sperm whales, tropical pilot whales, fin whales, beaked whales and dolphins that live in the Canary Islands, one of the nine areas in the world where more CETACEANS live. There are many and they are united.
REPPSOL!, respect my land, which is a Specially Sensitive Marine Zone. One of the territories with the highest density of endemic flora and fauna in the world, forming part of the NATURA 2000 NETWORK. A habitat of special interest as a breeding ground for a multitude of species of fishing interest for our Canarian artisanal fleet.
SHARK! we are going to give you a burst of CLEAN AND RENEWABLE ENERGIES so that you learn that, here, we do have dignity. So that you see that in the Canary Islands no initiative should be launched regarding research permits, authorizations and oil concessions without the SOCIAL and POLITICAL AGREEMENT of the institutions and citizens of the Autonomous Community.
We are going to give you a bag of BIODIVERSITY on the back of your neck so that you know the will of tens of thousands of Canarians who have expressed their resounding and systematic rejection of your project. So that it is clear to you that in the union of cultural, scientific, environmental, political parties and institutions lies our strength and our salvation.
REPPSOL, what are you doing here?, if your drilling mining activity on seabeds in the ocean is one of the most polluting industries in the world, as evidenced by the high number of OIL SPILLS recorded in recent years in the Gulf of Mexico, in Tarragona, in Alaska,...
We are going to face you with courage because you yourself, SHARK, recognize that the existence of spills is inherent to the oil industry and that they endanger the soil and groundwater, constituting an ENVIRONMENTAL DANGER of great importance. Because we know that your drilling will take place at risky depths, close to 3,500 meters, in an area where the seabed registers frequent seismic movements.
When we see you coming we will give you sticks of SUSTAINABLE TOURIST DESTINATION, the economic model we want for our descendants. So that you don't eat our sister Canary Islands, we will receive you with a sign that says THE UNITED PEOPLE WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED. Let's not get overwhelmed my brothers, let's pay attention. So that they see that in our Canary Islands the pilot whale does not sleep.
