Political-social stratum

Whether we want to accept it or not, fragmentation in terms of political thought and social attitude is a reality. We propose below an identification of differentiated and confronted segments in current Canarian society, which we observe by dividing citizen positions into four in relation to the vision of the current society of the Archipelago, without delving into the political vision recognized and classified by previous scales (more than old). Nor will we use electoral figures to classify these social fractions, as we understand that voting is often the result of fear, discontent, punishment or, ultimately, influences of political marketing that has more to do with political inculture than with ideological tendency.

The opposition: In this first fragment that we present, all those faces that repeat in the street demonstrations are grouped together. They are the people who from the outside are intended to disqualify as those of "no to everything", but who actually pull many opponents in each specific case and are the opposition to the social impositions of the current system. They are authentic representatives of that 90% of society that shares only 20% of the wealth produced in the Archipelago.

The protest: They could be accused of "the complainers", using the dialect of this land. These do not usually always accompany the former in demonstrations nor do they have the politicization of "the opposition"; but they do align with them in their opinions and belong to that 90% exploited and mistreated of the population. Possibly, the increase in their political culture and their participation will be decisive in the future.

The accomplices: They are the heirs of those self-defined "apolitical" people from before the labor reform. The socio-political apathy they exert aligns them with the worst of the system and their positioning, or lack thereof, tends to give all the facilities to perpetuate the current state or worsen the situation.

The beneficiaries: This minority is not only that 10% of the population that hoards 90% of the wealth, but there are the authentic political accomplices, irresponsible, who manage the public for the exclusive benefit of the great economic powers. They are the ones in charge of falsifying social policy through pro-financial actions. They are accountable to a minority that annulled the democratically elected political power a long time ago. In short, they are vassals of the small local bourgeoisie, of banks and multinationals; as well as supranational financial powers that mark social management and damage the quality of life of the majority of the population, not only in the Canary Islands.

In reality, no one is born obliged to be in one or another social group, although they may be conditioned by their work or family situation.

However, it is clear that everyone has the freedom to place themselves on one or another plane; however opposed these may be in their origin. What I consider worse is the lack of awareness or the premeditated ignorance of the individual social situation; or the complicity that pretends to be naive, in this cruel and polarized society that we have.

We are on time to correct our social attitude. Afterwards, it is not possible to justify the current positioning or hide from changes, which are already foreseeable, putting on an innocent face or "it wasn't me". There are injustices that cannot last forever. In which social segment do you see yourself?
