"We must invite people to wake up and bring out their critical sense." "We live in times where there is an abundance of those saviors and standard-bearers who want to take care of us" (the great Calixto). Despite the proximity of the May 28 elections, there is no great interest in the elections perceived on the street. This lack of general interest has been a worrying tone in recent processes, but there was always that apprehension, those spaces for reflection, that desire to annoy family and friends. At least, we talked about it..., although afterwards a large majority took advantage of the day to go to the beach, rest or simply continue on their way.
But in these, the apathy is such that no one shows the slightest concern. We talk about the disaster that the "politicians" have caused, making it clear that we extend this unease to most of the formations, we are not interested in the contents of their electoral programs, we are annoyed by the excess of propaganda that they deposit in our mailboxes.
They have made politics pale with their unfulfilled promises, a euphemism that they repeat without memory or shame. They have made citizens hate participating, building community. But our public representatives have gotten something right. They have known how to recognize, like no other guild, the significant scope that the media and social networks have in order to consume their purposes. In fact, the campaigns have moved to the networks.
The street, direct contact with citizens has given way to media struggles. You are not convinced by arguments, the opposite is deactivated with bad tricks through the networks. We no longer believe them, we don't believe in anything because they only offer us nothing. Of course, nothing elaborated in beautiful spaces. Four half-truths adequately presented in a video with attractive backgrounds and colors and emotional music can encourage obtaining a good handful of votes. It doesn't matter what nonsense is proclaimed, the important thing is to be there and accumulate garbage and other residues of uncertainties in the collective consciousness.
Peaches, peaches, peaches... We continue to fatten their chiringuitos with our routine abandonment. It is already known, "a ship with a favorable wind and a mediocre captain does not reach the dock." What is truly sad, what makes us take refuge in indifference, is to see how anyone who participates in an election and reaches a public office (possibly seduced by the dignity of ideas and wanting to work for their neighbors) does not take long to activate the local authority mode.
And then you begin to lose perspective on things. However, the party machinery and the power that the position gives them to decide on some local issues (in most cases without experience or preparation for it) definitively contribute to this metamorphosis.
In a short time they exhibit primary concepts provided by the party or eager advisors, such as effective management, transparency, sustainability, citizen consensus, public responsibility, etc. They don't know very well what they proclaim, but they sense that it serves to self-legitimize themselves before "the people"...
The transformation culminates when they acquire and develop behaviors and behaviors similar to those of their predecessors. They feel comfortable in their new management shoes, they learn to run away from criticism without shame, they are distrustful of other ways of acting, their lives gain color, they polish their poses before the cameras, the advertising videos become more professional... They end up imbued with that strange disease called "photo of the day."
