I am not going to allow any type of threats for the realization of my work of inspection to your work
It has been more than a year since I took office as a councilor in the Tías City Council; a day in which a new government group was formed, made up of PSOE-LAVA-UNIDAS PODEMOS.
That day I wished them luck because their luck would be mine and that of the rest of the neighbors. I told them that they would have me by their side for anything that was beneficial for the municipality and they would have me against them in anything that I considered harmful.
This was precisely what happened on August 7 when early in the morning a concrete mixer truck approached La Tiñosa and dumped its load on an area of puddles and even the shore itself, with the idea of creating a new access to the beach.
A new access that I am not saying was not necessary, but not in this way, and even more so, at a time when citizens are asking us to be respectful of the environment. There were a thousand ways to do it but you chose the worst of them.
Many neighbors have complained about this action, especially people from La Tiñosa who are regulars to the place. These are neighbors who even doubt that access was necessary. The conservation of the coast, of the natural, is above our comfort.
But no, you like certain comforts. What's more, I don't think you would mind filling with cement from the cliff of La Tiñosa to the Quíquere Ravine or Puerto Calero; bathing areas very popular for the quality of their waters and for the pleasure of enjoying the coast in its fullness, a virgin and natural coast without cement. So I beg you to stay away from them, We don't want more cement on our shores...
For this reason I have publicly denounced this action, because I consider that you were wrong and because many neighbors asked me to do so from the first moment. I have received numerous messages and calls since they saw the concrete mixer enter through the slipway and begin to pour the cement on a part of the little virgin coast that we have left in La Tiñosa.
So far everything is normal, if we can talk about normality in this situation... However, on Sunday afternoon I received a call from a friend and he asked me if I had heard what you had said about me in a media outlet and if I was planning to report it; something that surprised me because I didn't know what he was referring to.
Later that night and with more calm I looked for the audio of that program and, sincerely, I was speechless.
Not only because of your ways and your anger (now I'm using "tú" with you) claiming that I had a certain personal animosity towards you. Nothing could be further from the truth, dear Mame. I even dare to say that more than animosity what I have for you is a personal appreciation; well, rather I had, because for me one thing is politics and another is personal friendships, which should never be lost due to political issues. There should always be mutual respect for the ideas of the other, although it seems that for you, Mr. Fernández, everything becomes something personal.
In fact, in the past legislature you were quite harsh in the opposition, but I considered that you did not do it out of malice or with bad intentions but that you were simply wrong on many occasions in your ways of doing opposition.
Plenary after plenary and in your daily publications, your way of doing opposition was always to accuse the government of B boxes, collection of commissions, or of technicians who better hand over their titles and go back to school...
I told you on more than one occasion that you were wrong and that not everything was worth it, that cowardly putting the word "supposedly" in this and that, was not enough because many times the message arrives without that supposedly and you leave in doubt the honorability of people, whether they are corporation colleagues or workers, technicians or whoever were the target of your poisoned darts on many occasions.
In short, an opposition out of place and that does not represent the values that should govern a public office that represents the residents of the municipality and a specific political party. In fact, in case you have forgotten, that attitude made you lose political weight and you went from two councilors to just one.
The politics of confrontation works for a while, but then people get tired. It worked for you in the first legislature but not so much in the second and also in this third, in which you have had to govern, you are leaving much to be desired since you cannot carry out everything you promised or claimed in the previous ones.
But also, in this legislature, it seems that the position has gone to your head, and these types of aggressive attitudes are increasing, accusing the previous government group of lies, or calling the technicians incapable, as you also said the other day. Meanwhile, in your particular circus, the dwarfs do not stop growing. The problems in those areas that you manage or managed increase day by day, demonstrating that he who covers much, little presses, and that although you have surrounded yourself with advisors there are many areas that you have too much.
In fact, in a few words, I will give you a summary of your management in this year and a half in some areas:
Local police: We have the biggest conflict with the police and lack of security, but of course, it is the fault of the previous government.
Tourism: Not a single new project, beyond a few small videos, while you announce as your own the hiking project, which takes tourism to the towns and which began a few years ago, or even the series of underwater videos, with the famous most complete audiovisual guide of the Canary Islands to promote diving tourism, among many others. While you sell words, before there was management.
Sports: An area that everyone thought was right for you, but with your ways you already created problems with the area staff and before they exploded you ran away from it. But of course, it is also the fault of the previous government
Roads and Works: An area in which as soon as you arrived you turned it upside down and removed the head of roads and works because he did not accept your ways. But that is also the fault of the previous government.
Beaches: You lost the blue flags obtained in 2019, due to the fault of the previous government of course. In 2020 they gave us the blue flags again, you celebrated and boasted about them in June but now that they are taken away from you for serious breaches for obtaining them and it is once again the fault of the previous government and also of the technician who is incapable and how not!, also because of Covid-19. It's everyone's fault but yours, you're not to blame for anything.
Although of course the blue flags, which you boasted so much about in June, now that you have lost them, you say that they are not necessary for people to see the quality of the beaches.
By the way, security on the beaches is also at a minimum, we have gone from having a device of 21 people to 7. You removed the company that the previous government left (how not).
Anyway, I see that in 3 legislatures you have not realized that companies win public tenders, they are not left by one political party or another.
For a company to comply, the government must demand it and if it does not, the contract is terminated, but it is done having a plan B ready, that is, a new public tender prepared, not as you have done, Mr. Councilor, from one day to the next, leaving the beaches with the minimum number of lifeguards due to lack of an alternative plan, although I suppose that all these evils are still the fault of the previous government.
I could continue with other areas but I would run out of space and the list would be very long, although it is also true that the fault is not only yours, because your disastrous management goes in parallel with your great team of personal advisors. Perhaps you should rethink what you said so much about that many technicians should return the titles and go home and start thinking about returning your councilor's act and go to yours.
And by the way, I remind you that it has been a year and a half since we were in the government and still when you fail in your management it is our fault, but when you take the photo in a work of the past legislature you say that it is thanks to the work you are doing.
But the funniest photo of all was the work on the avenue of the beaches at the height of the Hotel San Antonio, which when you inaugurated it you said that it was proof of the great work they were doing, but since criticisms came out, it was the fault of the previous government that left the work projected in that way.
And, despite the fact that you and your team are solely responsible for so much disaster, you have the nerve to intervene in the media blaming the previous government for all your failures, to talk again about incapable technicians and, in addition, you dare to utter threats towards me, going so far as to say: "the best thing Amado Vizcaíno can do is shut up, because perhaps he has a lot to hide and from going to the frying pan so much he may end up burning himself"
You have done all this accusing me of something completely untrue regarding the realization of works to appropriate part of the coast.
At another time, if you want, I will tell you the story behind what you have been told or told, because perhaps and I give you this as advice, you should not pay attention to gossip and make sure before speaking.
But the significance of the matter and the seriousness of your statements lies in the threats that you have publicly professed against me with the intention that I do not continue denouncing what I think is wrong and that I better shut up, right?
Threats, by the way, that are classified as a crime within the penal code and that could cost you dearly and although at first my intention was to go to court on the recommendation of my lawyer and report this fact, for your peace of mind I have decided not to do so, at least for the moment.
Unlike you, I understand politics as a way to improve our municipality by engaging in debates in the plenary hall so that among all the councilors of the corporation we reach the best agreements. In fact, in almost all the motions that I have taken to plenary we have ended up making amendments to them, approving a large part of them.
In politics there is no room for threats or disrespect, especially towards other members of the corporation for the realization of their work of inspection.
Regarding these threats I understand, and that is why I am not going to take legal action, that they have been erroneous statements and the result of the impotence that you must feel when you are immersed in an uncomfortable situation where many people have denounced this dumping of cement on the coast and for which you are going to have to prove that you had all the permits, although at first it does not seem so.
Of course, I warn you that I am not going to allow one more. So I hope that, apart from rectifying and apologizing, you know how to respect my work of inspection because I also announce that I am going to continue with the work of inspection of your work and of the entire government group. Your threat is proof that we are doing a good job.
In addition, through this open letter that many others will read, including your partners in the tripartite, I want to ask them to talk to you, Mr. Fernández, and ask you for moderation and respect in your statements.
A government group that prides itself must respect and accept the work of the rest of the members of the corporation.
It is not valid to say "those are things of Mame Fernández", as they usually say on some occasion, when they are questioned by a neighbor. I remind you, I remind each of the members of the government group that their public statements represent the entire government and even the citizens of Tías and their political parties, so, everyone, when a mistake is made as in these latest statements, are as guilty as the one who made them.
Sincerely
Amado Jesús Vizcaíno Eugenio
Councilor of Coalición Canaria Tías
