Now Román is going to sell me that he is from the left and his progressive nationalism! The other thing, the four years he spent carrying the Coalición Canaria portfolio through Parliament, as President of the Government of the Canary Islands, was only a labor issue, not a party or ideological one.
Román, then, is one of those who earns his salary with politics. Or worse, one of those who fills his mouth with promises and the almost trade unionist speeches of his youth, if necessary, to avoid his real political background. Chameleonic without a doubt.
Although it is known that in his youth he stood as a union leader and from that university twilight (Unidad de Nacionalistas de Izquierda), together with the politically deceased Melchor Núñez. Historical testimony gives faith that it faded when he joined Coalición Canaria, endorsed by the old ICAN. Since then it was public that he became "more conservative". Something totally incompatible with the progressive that he pretends to be today.
He was General Director of Sanitary Assistance from 1993 to 1995. And in 1995 he was appointed director of the Canarian Health Service, with the rank of Deputy Minister. A very hard time for Canarian Health, which also unleashed the Aeromédica storm. Where the press of the time accused Román of participating "at the beginning of 1998 in the Board of Directors of the public company Gestión Sanitaria de Canarias that awarded Aeromédica Canaria S.L (a company in which his brother worked) the services of a medicalized plane, for an amount of 214 million pesetas, ... Román Rodríguez presided over the Council as director of the Canarian Health Service (SCS)".
This gentleman is coincident in name and surnames, and other identifiers, with the one that now sells Nueva Canarias. In Tenerife, without going any further, still "under construction", but with an amalgam of well-known political figures, desperately sought, where people from the PP, PSOE, CC coincide and forgive me if I forget the old organization of some other defector eager to pick up a seat again.
The truth is that they "sell" that they are nationalists, they will be very inclusive, when they have in their ranks people who until recently were in the PP or the PSOE, and also "as from the left" which, ignoring the left that the PP, PSOE or CC may represent, it is enough to give the leader a historical review, to know that he is not from the left at all.
And for all that, aware that it is not typified as a crime in the Spanish State to deceive the voters, but that in reality it is custom and tradition, popularly could we not call this version of ideological corruption "Scam of the New Román"?. With a tint and a little glitter, it looks great.
