The Canarian Minister, José Manuel Soria, has come out these days with the promise of a participation in the economic resources generated by the explorations authorized to Repsol. The man does not rest in his task of commercializing the oil multinational.

In view of the fact that not even his own coreligionists believe the story of the tens of thousands of jobs, he is now attacking with the supposed benefits via a special tax tailored to the Canary Islands.

Soria values our dignity so little that he thinks it is only a matter of talking about money; and he ignores that first there is the right of a community to decide its future, its way of life, its economic model.

However, when he has to talk about real money, his answers are different.

We are still waiting in the Canary Islands for the differentiated treatment he promised with respect to renewables. A double obligation if we think that the delay in the wind deployment was largely due to the practices of the Popular Party in the Ministry of Industry, which led to the paralysis of the wind tenders, turned into rigged raffles.

And what about the restitution of the bonuses to airport taxes, which allowed to obtain record numbers of visitors while Aena's operating account improved.

We are still waiting for a gesture, just one, that refutes the widespread conviction that, as a minister, he has set among his objectives to punish the Canary Islands for not having been able to govern it. His entry into the Government has been enough to observe an unprecedented budgetary punishment to the islands, as certified by the neglect of the Canary Islands Plan or the disappearance of the Comprehensive Employment Plan for the Canary Islands.

No, Minister. You don't need to come and give us a participation in a poisoned business that puts our future at risk. Lanzarote is not for sale. Honor your word, if you remember what that means. Restore the premiums to renewables and the bonuses to airport taxes and stop making the Canary Islands the object of your revenge.
