Finally. I don't think there are two words that better express the feelings of the majority of the citizens of this country. Finally, the president of the worst government in the history of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has called elections for this coming November 29th.
And today, October 12th, our National Holiday, I believe we must say POR FIN, in capital letters, more than ever.
Because there have been months and even years of absolute nonsense on the part of Mr. Sánchez. Years of turning his back on the reality and needs of the citizenry as a whole, and what's more, he has done so by benefiting Basques and Catalans at his whim.
Privileges for a few, and, obviously, none for the Canary archipelago. We have had eight years of Mr. Sánchez's government during which the cost of living has not stopped rising; during which housing went from being a minor problem to a real burden for Canarians; a time during which Lanzarote has been suffocated by irregular immigration, which has called into question basic services and the capacity of our State Security Forces and Corps.
A man who has done absolutely everything as long as he could stay one more day in Moncloa. He has completely defiled the powers of the state, has systematically failed to comply with the Constitution, and has generated countless problems for the citizens of our country. And he, as with everything, couldn't care less.
A president who decided to take a vacation in the midst of one of the biggest crises in recent years, with 70,000 people crossing the border into Ceuta, thus causing an unprecedented invasion and endless problems for the people of Ceuta.
And it is curious that, although he now presents himself as the savior of democracy, the reality is that his intention was not to call elections under any circumstances. Perhaps he has seen that this is ungovernable... but wasn't it when he has gone four years without approving general budgets? Curious, to say the least.
Whatever the case, and if one were to delve into the countless breaches of this man with this land, it would fill a trilogy of books, on November 29th we are called to the polls to elect the congressmen for our province and the senator for Lanzarote and La Graciosa. Elections in which we have a great deal at stake, a very critical situation in which both islands must choose between continuing with the abandonment by the PSOE or truly betting on a positive change for all.
But we have time. We have time for Alberto Núñez Feijóo to finally be the president our country needs and thus channel the recovery in every sense.
Furthermore, we have time for Lanzarote and La Graciosa to be represented in Madrid and with flying colors, as has always been done when the Popular Party has had the opportunity. Time for our land to be heard, for our reality and our problems to be debated in Madrid. Because now, more than ever, we need a voice that truly looks out for our interests in the capital.
Because now more than ever, Lanzarote and La Graciosa have a lot at stake. The Canary Islands have a lot at stake. Spain has a lot at stake.
Today, more than ever, Long live Spain.
